Norfolk Cruises 2013

Carnival Cruise Line has announced its schedule of cruises from Norfolk, Virginia for 2013. The big Carnival Glory will offer six 5-day Bahamas cruises in the spring and fall. These trips visit Nassau and Freeport in the islands. The Carnival Glory will also offer three of the popular 2-night cruises to nowhere out of Norfolk. These quick getaways are great introductions to cruising for those who've never been.

This Week's New (or Improved) Hotels
The new Hyatt Place Boston/Braintree is the first piece of a South Shore retail redevelopment project to be completed.  204 rooms will be ready for guests when it official opens on May 15th.  The hotel is located in the Braintree suburb on the south side of town, adjacent to I-93.
 
Timed to coincide with Earth Week, the Hilton New York has announced that it's getting a little greener.  A 16,000+ square foot green roof system has been installed on the hotel's fifth floor roof setback, with a lots of vegetation that'll help with keeping things cool and cleaning the air.  A new cogeneration plant is also being added to that fifth floor roof which will use natural gas to generate much of the hotel's electrical and steam requirements - reducing the Hilton's carbon footprint by about 30%.

Steamboat Cruises Return to Mississippi River

From April 26-29 the Golden Nugget Atlantic City will be celebrating the completion of its $150 million transformation.  Formerly known as the Trump Marina, it's essentially a brand new hotel. Disney Fantasy

The new Disney Fantasy cruise ship made its maiden voyage on March 31st and is now offering Caribbean cruises out of Port Canaveral, Florida. The ship features two new musical shows, the crazy AquaDuck water coaster, Europa adults-only nightclubs, and AquaLab water playground for kids. Choose a 7-night eastern or western Caribbean cruise. We have the full schedule of sailings for 2012 and 2013.

This Week's New (or Improved) Hotels
In the next couple of weeks the Hyatt Regency Atlanta will complete a $65 million renovation project. The 22-story atrium received a redesign, all of the 1,260 guest rooms have been upgraded, the 180,000 square feet of meeting space is looking better than ever and three new eating/drinking spots have been added to the lobby.
 
The Hotel Indigo San Diego Del Mar is now open a couple of blocks from the Pacific just north of San Diego.  Formerly the Stratford Inn (built in 1910), the hotel received a major renovation to bring everything up the to the contemporary design standards of the Indigo brand.  The new decor also reflects the influence of the Del Mar racetrack and nearby beaches.

TRYP New York City Times Square South is now open on 35th Street in Manhattan.  It's the first TRYP by Wyndham hotel to open in the U.S.  The 173 guest rooms are all very modern in design.  Special accommodations include two Fitness rooms with stationary bikes, 23 Family rooms that accommodate 6-8 guests and two Samsung Experience rooms with 55 3D TV's, surround sound, Wii game system and a popcorn machine.
 
Element Miami International Airport is now open near the airport.  It brings the Element style (think boutique and trendy on a budget) to the area near the new Miami Central Station (scheduled to open in April) that will provide a rail connection between the airport and downtown Miami.  Guests can expect a hearty, healthy complimentary breakfast, 24 hour fitness center and complimentary evening receptions.

New Disney Fantasy on its way to New York

The newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Fantasy has left the shipyard and is on its way to New York City where it will be named in a ceremony on March 1. The ship features a new nighttime entertainment district for adults, new shows, and the AquaDuck watercoaster. The Fantasy will be based in Cape Canaveral (Florida) and offers Caribbean cruises.
