| » Synthesizing Your Sessions » |
Synthesis - n. - the combination of parts or elements so as to form a whole. (Merriam Webster)
Applied to the coaching process, synthesis is what coach and client co-create at the conclusion of a session.
This is important because:- you and the client have probably visited numerous issues and ideas during the session, and it's easy to forget how it all fits together
- helping weave together all the "stopping points" along the way will allow the client to draw more solid conclusions from the session
- it helps the client generate concrete action steps, thereby producing better results in their lives
If that isn't enough, how about something that will benefit you, the coach? If you ask the same question
at the end of each session, not only will you have great feedback on
what was most valuable for the client, but you will also discover the theme of your coaching session.
Jot down a week's worth of "themes" (written, conveniently, by your clients). Before you know it, you'll have the basis for your next blog entry, newsletter or e-book. Expand on these themes, and you'll be selling your work in print in no time. After all, stocking your store shelves is a great way to earn passive revenue!
Here's a simple one to get you started: "What's your biggest takeaway from today?"
Try it out on your next few clients. Learn what a wealth of wisdom you helped your clients uncover - and discover what great raw materials you can now repurpose to help others! |
