| According to career experts, companies are expected to spend less on recruitment efforts as they expect job seekers - both internal and external - to know how to conduct their own job search. What this means for you is to study what the trends are, network with everyone, and always be prepared. This is what good career management is about - knowing your skills and what you offer and being aware at all times; it's about having goals and plans in place for when you are ready for your next career move; and it's about not allowing others to control what happens to you regarding your career. Here are 3 steps to help you keep in charge of your career: 1. Write down all of your skills, experiences, values, aptitudes, and the like so you are aware of them; these will be useful for when you are considering a transition to see if you possess the desired background. It is also useful to refer back to when you need an esteem-booster. 2. Write down your career goals so you always know which direction you're going in. Be sure to review them often to see if you're on track; it will also help you to know if when you're ready for your next position. 3. Be aware of your mood and emotions regarding your work situations - if something doesn't seem right, then take time to reflect on possible reasons and then reframe to see what you can do to change the situation. Remember, only YOU can control how you think about a situation or do something to change it. Take back the control - the power is in your hands! I am very excited to announce that the book I am a co-author in has been released. It was a thrill for me to finally see the book in print, as it has been 3 years since I submitted my first article (I have 3 in the book); I went to Delray Beach for the book signing and met fellow coauthors and sign books.
