Monday Success Tip
I came across a study by the Institute for the Future that has great implications for those of you who are planning your career and where it is going. The study was focused on understanding the changes of work, and the needs of organizations in relation to job preparation, to meet these needs.
Identified were what the researchers called, "Disruptive Forces" in the U.S. economy that will greatly affect the world of work. Among these shifts are:
- extreme longevity
- the rise of smart machines and systems
- new media ecology and a higher computational world
- super-structured organizations and a globally connected world (Institute of the Future and U.of Phoenix)
Also cited in the study were anticipated skills that will be required in order to adapt to those identified forces. These include:
* Sense-making
* Social intelligence
* Novel & adaptive thinking
* Cross-cultural competency
* Knowledge of social media
* Transdisciplinarity and virtual
collaboration
*Critical thinking skills and creativity
How many of these skills do you possess? Now is the time to hone those skills, or learn how if you don't possess them. Staying current and meeting the needs of the ever-changing world of work will position you to lead the charge, increase your value and lead to life-long career management.
If you would like help to identify and enhance your skills, call today to get started. I'd love to partner with you. I hope you have a successful week!
