Random Thoughts:
Monday's action scores as a bummer. It puts the market back down to
the bottom of its recent short-term range. The big up/down/up/down
"railroad track" type trading is frustrating.
It's important not to "chase your own tail" when the market is
behaving erratically.
Obviously, the sideways trading has the indices losing steam. The
50-day moving average/recent lows remains an inflection point.
So what do we do if the market ends up on the wrong side of the
tracks? Well, it wouldn't be the end of the world, but it certainly
would be concerning.
In light of this, focus mostly on the stronger areas such as Silver
and the Energies since they can trade contra to the market.
Honor your stops on existing positions just in case.
Q. Hey Dave, since the market has lost momentum, why not bail on
existing longs?
A. Well, if you exit every time there's a little bit of adversity,
you'll never catch a longer-term winner. For example, those who
bailed back in December missed one heck of a run.
Futures are flat to firm pre-market.
Best of luck with your trading today!
