I used to work closely with a guy...
Very closely...
Who
was extremely embarrassed that he had a job and
a home business too.
He did everything he could do to hide it.
Never mentioned it on his profiles and stayed away
from talking about it.
One day I made the mistake of mentioning his job on
a webinar and the dude was livid.
Went off on me
...screaming and yelling.
And all I could think was...
What a shame.
This was a man who had a job to take care of his family
and give them stability while the kids were growing which I
think is an incredibly honorable PLUS he was developing a
side hustle for
later.
Now THAT'S A PLAN!
And yet so many people are embarrassed about taking a
job or even quit theirs too soon to "keep up with the Joneses"
putting themselves and their families in perils way.
Which brings me to my scenario....
Where after 20 years of not having a job I took one.
And I am not the least bit embarrassed about it.
In fact I see it as a way to serve even more people in
the
space who want to work from home.
And hey...
Having a job in the digital marketing space is way different
than having one in a big corp or something.
A bunch of the time I work from home....
There's no dress code most days....
I can work the hours I want.
I am getting to meet a ton of big players and influential people
And it is really
cool to have colleagues again!
All in all it is way much more fun that the 9 to 5 world I lived
in back before my kids were born.
And most importantly...
I am doing GREAT WORK.
WORK THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
So ya....
I am gonna play in this world for a while.
Beef up my non existent "resume"
Change the face of digital marketing education...
And who knows...
In a few years
perhaps open something of my own.
The one thing I know is that in order to learn what I want
to learn I can pay a lot of money to try to learn in a few days
what they do to run their business which is a hard thing to do...
Or I can use my own sweat equity to learn from giants
on a daily basis in their own
"HABITAT".
Where do you think I'm gonna learn more?
YUP...
The second choice.
So me...I think this is the smartest thing I could be doing at this juncture
of my career.
Investing a few years to take my "FREEDOM" to a whole nutha level.
And leaving a legacy while I do it.
Mentorship is PRICELESS.
You can't buy it.
You can only earn it.
And that's what I'm doing right
now.
And I'm damn proud of it.
Job an all.
So if you have a job...
BE PROUD.
If you don't like your job...
Gain more skills so you can change it.
If you want to be FREE then do as my mentor used to say...
You gotta get IN if you want to get OUT.
Work your job like mad and work your business like mad.
JUMP IN HARDER THAN EVER.
You have to do BOTH full speed
all at the same time so you can get OUT of the job.
Its THE ONLY WAY.
Me...
I am doubling down right now.
Digging deep.
Sleeping less...
Learning more....
Loving more.
For I know what the end result will be.
Ok...time to hang out with Mom and Dad.
