Published: Thu, 01/06/11

Hi

To try and catch up with all the updates here is Part 2!

I put together a series of articles based on interviews with ebike and commuter bike
specific shop owners that is being rolled out at the website Commute by Bike. It is
called the Rise of the Commuter and Ebike Specialist Shop.

The first part is my interview with Bert from NyceWheels in New York City;

And here is part 2 of the interview series with Gary from Hybrid Cycles in Pennsylvania:

I took the week off between Christmas and New Years but I still wanted to cover what
was going on! So here is some ebike news from that week:

When my wife and I were in Portland Oregon recently, we test road some Kahlkoff
ebikes. I will do a quick post about that soon  Here is the pic of the one I rode.

I also got over to EcoSpeed who has their headquarters in Portland. They make high
end electric bike conversion kits and I will do a post about them soon.   Here is a pic of
their kit on a Kona Ute cargo bike.

Next week I am meeting with Edward Benjamin who is an electric bike industry
consultant and President of the Light Electric Vehicle Association.  Here is more
about LEVA:

Edward will be in Flagstaff to meet with a local ebike motor manufacturer,
Motor Excellence.  They are working on some new electric motor technology that they
say will be more efficient than traditional motors.

Well I think that concludes the updates for now!  I will try to get back on a regular
weekly update so that these updates aren't so long :)

Happy New Year!
