The EcoPlusHome is the most efficient house built in New Brunswick. Our goal is to make renewable energy affordable in residential construction across North America.
The EcoPlusHome - Team organized the
first workshop in
Fredericton
to continue the development of EPH communities and homes. All major
steak holders of the project joined a one day session at the head office of
construction partner Maple Leaf Homes.Bosch TT represented by Canadian Sales Manager Gino DiNezzza
(Montreal) and Product Engineer Joachim Preiss (New Hampshire/US) joined the
meeting, along with Jacques Roy (Maple Leaf Homes), Greg Johanneson (BirdStairs),
along with other major project partners. The main goal of this event was the integration of the modular construction for the
EcoPlusHome envelope, along side of the advanced Technology package from Bosch. This concept is already demonstrated in the EcoPlusHome test house in
Bathurst,NB.Maple Leaf Homes Sales Manager, Jacques Roy,
conducted a detailed plant tour with the EcoPlusHome team and Bosch for discussion
of the integration of the Bosch technologies into the manufactured home building process. Also invited were builders and subdivision developers located in
New Brunswick
to receive first hand information about the next steps in the development of
the EPH project in Canada.
EfficiencyNew Brunswick
was representedby Joe Waugh.Joe gave a presentation on current incentives
offered by
EfficiencyNB for private investments of new home
owners into energy efficient construction and renewable technology and an
outlook as to what may come in the future. Further more an advanced installer
network (coordinated by the EPH team) were present to clarify the
installations of the technology at a very high quality standard.
EPH Project Manager Scott Tidd quoted as being very
satisfied with the results of the workshop. "The quality of all project partners and their motivation
towards quality work is the foundation of the EcoPlusHome product."
Bosch will provide professional training
As a result of the EPH workshop Bosch will organize special training courses for the project partner. The installer and also the manufacturer of the EcoPlusHome have to be qualified to meet the high quality standards of Bosch worldwide. Bosch Product Engineer Joachim Preiss is already very impressed about the building experience of partner like Maple Leaf Homes. "In a special training program we will educate all involved installer and builder who are part of the EcoPlusHome project", he said. The training will be conducted at one of two locations: Bosch TT headquarters in New Hampshire/US and on location in New Brunswick.
The quality of the installation and maintenance of the Bosch technology in the next EcoPlusHome projects in Atlantic Canada is essential for the satisfaction of the customers, said Axel Lerche, EcoPlusHome manager.
Over the average - EPH test house generates more electricity than expected
Since project start in April 2010 the EPH test house in
Bathurst generated approx 30% more electricity than expected. The advanced photovoltaic provided by Bosch
produced more than 6,200 kW/hrs. with a daily average of 48,8 kW/Hrs. The peak generation per day was over 80 kW/hrs. and the lowest generated electricity was still more than 7 kW/hrs. per day. If the EPH test house can
maintain the same generation for a period of one year the house would generate
17,800kW/hrs.With the
average energy consumption of a Canadian household being 11,000kW/hrs, the EPH
test house in
Bathurst
would produce 30% more electricity than the national average. To find more information
