Premier Shawn Graham visits EcoPlusHome in Bathurst

Shawn Graham, the Premier of
the Canadian Province of New Brunswick, visited the
EcoPlusHome test house in Bathurst. Accompanied by
Minister for Tourism and Bathurst MLA Brian Kenny the
Premier wanted to get first hand information of the
most energy efficient house in this part of Canada.
The EcoPlusHome team prepared a
tour through the house project and invited several
project partners such as; Mario Gross from Bosch Thermotechnology (via
phone conference from Los Angeles), Jean Allain,
Principal of the CCNB and Stéphane Haché of Novolux
to explain the importance of the project and why they
are partnering with the EcoPlusHome. The project team
prepared detailed information especially about the
technology integrated in the EcoPlusHome and the
energy efficient construction. The EcoPlusHome is one
of the first houses in North America which has
integrated the components; Photovoltaic panels,
Thermo Solar and Geothermal designed as one system
and built in a pre fabricated house envelope. Through
this the EcoPlusHome has achieved an EnerGuide rating
of 96 and is the most efficient house in New
Brunswick.
Premier Shawn Graham was especially interested in
detailed information about the components in the
mechanical room. The technical tour conducted by EcoPlusHome project manager Scott Tidd, showcased the
partnership with Bosch Thermotechnology. Mr. Graham
assured that the support of the Government of New
Brunswick will continue and that New Brunswick is
proud to be the home base for this innovative
project. In a phone conference with Bosch manager
Mario Gross the Premier invited the German company to
meet with him and his Government to discuss the
expansion of the EcoPlusHome project and other
activities of Bosch in New Brunswick. Mario Gross
explained again that the EcoPlusHome in Bathurst is a
model house that is ready for series production and
aims to prove that it is possible to generate a
virtually CO2free energy supply exclusively from renewable
energies for an affordable price while still enjoying
a comfortable lifestyle.
EcoPlusHome communities in development

The EcoPlusHome Team has been meeting with several
subdivision developers and home builders to discuss
the realization of EcoPlusHome projects and
communities in different regions of North America and
abroad. The focus on affordability and the virtual
elimination of expenses for electricity have already
gained a lot of consumer interest. Together with
project partner Bosch and Maple Leaf Homes the design
and development of different house layouts is in
progress and it is the goal of all partners to offer
the first EcoPlusHomes in Atlantic Canada by fall
2010. Community developers in different metropolitan
areas like Fredericton, Moncton or Halifax are
interested in the integration of the EcoPlusHome
concept to make affordability living without using
fossil fuels available for their clientele.
International media interested in EcoPlusHome
Over the past 12 months the EcoPlusHome
created a fast growing public interest in net zero
home construction especially in Canada and the US. We
are also observing more and more online visitors and
subscribers to the EcoPlusHome newsletter from many
other countries such as Belgium, Rumania, Germany,
Australia or India. Press releases from our partner
Bosch, and articles in several different newspapers
and online magazines increased the interest of the
project in many countries and we are proud to send
this newsletter to contacts in over 50 countries
around the globe. Please feel free to send us your
comment about the EcoPlusHome project and any new
