Back in 1995, right after 

I moved 3,000 miles across

the country & settled in San

Diego California... 

 

... my Dad came out to 

visit me - for what I'm sure

was more to "check up" on

me - than an actual visit. 

 

I had just quit my job at

another gym, and was an 

unemployed personal trainer,

again. 

 

I had realized for the last

time, that I could not keep

a job at that point. 

 

I was sick & tired of working

for other people. 

 

I was tired of waking up when

it was dark, being inside all 

day, and only making enough 

money to cover my bills each 

month. 

  

And, if I didn't have work, 

I didn't get paid. 

 

Just the thought of having

a liner income like that, really

scared me. 

 

I was confused.....

.......frustrated. 

 

I wasn't even sure what 

to do. 

 

I just knew that I had to

be my own boss. 

 

I'll never forget this conversation

my Dad & I had - I was sitting 

on the hood of his rental car and 

he stood right before me. 

 

It was a cool December night

in San Diego. 

  

The silence was deafening

as the waves broke on the 

beach just a few feet away. 

 

It was a cool December night

right before Christmas. 

  

He said, "Son, you don't have

a job. You don't have any money. 

You have none coming in, and 

almost no credit left... 

 

... What are you going to do?" 

 

And for a moment, everything

stopped. 

  

I felt weightless.....

........ Numb. 

even.....

Surreal.
