How does EN work across a season?
When to start the OutSeason?
In our experience, this is less a function of your schedule for next season, but rather of where is your head at, right now? We ask you to committ to 20wks of very solid, focus work. Not volume, not long hours, but solid work. It works, it will make you faster, but if your head, for whatever reason, isn't quite ready to go there yet, it's best to start the OS when it is ready and work with us to figure out what means for the rest of your schedule. If you create a trial membership and decide to join, we do offer a membership hold option, allowing you to start the OS when it makes sense for you and your Head.
I Have An Early Season A-race in April or May -- or An Early Half Ironman.
November is a great time to start the OS, as you'll finish the OS in mid-late March, just in time to roll into your HIM or IM training plan. In our experience, TeamEN athletes completing all 20wks of the OS only need 6-10wks to transition that fitness over to the half distance, or 12-16wks to the full Ironman distance. Don't worry, we've managed that transition hundreds of times with our members.
I Have A Mid-Season A-race in June, July, August, or September.

Warm winter athletes -- if you start the OS in November, we highly recommend you schedule B or C races in the early season period above, to give you a shorter term focus and avoid burnout.
Cold winter athletes -- the above also applies to you, but likely moreso, because you'll be stuck on a trainer until March or April = nuts by June if you're not careful!! Or you could start your OS program in January, in which case your season would likely follow the Early Season A-Race guidance above.
Note that we don't recommend a December OS start. In our experience...December is just a messy month and athletes who start the OS in December, usually end up restarting their program in January because December was just too crazy for them. Better to just call timeout, enjoy the holidays (but not too much!) spend time with your family, and get ready to hit it hard on January 1st.
I Have A Late-Season A-race in September, October, or November.
We highly recommend that EVERYONE split their season. Half Ironman athletes: target one A-race in June or July, and a second, or even a third A-race later in the season. Ironman athletes: train and race like a half Ironman athlete until about 16 weeks out from your Ironman...then get to work! Bottomline is that NO ONE needs to be focused on ONE race 9-12months out. You...Will...Go...Crazy.

Trial Reminder: Dollars and Sense

Your Trial Membership Opportunity Ends Today
How does a coached triathlon team with 600 members change the long course triathlon game?
We think we're about to find out!
Over 325 athletes have created trial memberships since we opened the doors on Wednesday. Add these to our existing team of 400 members and the opportunities for truly game-changing stuff makes our heads spin.
Quite simply, we have been humbled by the response of the long course triathlon community to our invitation to come inside and witness what we feel makes Endurance Nation such a unique space.
Since Wednesday we've shared with you our resources, the results and testimonials
of our athletes, and the power our community.
As you make the final decision about your trial, we'd like you to consider one more final metric -- The Money.
At $99/month, Endurance Nation is an incredible value. Not only do you get tons more than any 1:1 coaching relationship, but you get it at 1/4th of the price. Do the math...if you paid a 1:1 coach $400/mo (what Rich and Patrick billed at before starting EN) for a year, that's $4800. The same time inside EN would cost you $1200, leaving you with an additional $3600 to spend on other critical elements of your triathlon experience:

A Powermeter ($1800)
A GPS device ($150)
A season's worth of training nutrition ($150)
Race Entry Fee ($625)
Travel and/or other races ($925)
That's right -- for the same amount of money, you get (almost) your entire year of triathlon including gear updates, races, and travel!
This doesn't include the intangible elements of the Team EN experience, which includes member meet ups, race connections, unlimited knowledge, support for injuries and nutrition and much, much more.
It's a lot to consider for sure, but know that once you step inside Team EN you'll forever be changed as a triathlete. What are you waiting for?
Click here to create your FREE two-week trial.
Please note that we will turn off the link above, and this trial membership opportunity, at about 9pm CST today. This is your last chance to lock in the current monthly membership price of $99/mo before we raise the price to $129/mo for the 2011 season.
See you on the inside!
~ Rich and Patrick

Trial Reminder: Community

The Most Valuable...and Hard to Explain Component of TeamEN

If you have already created your free trial membership there is no need to read this email.
In our experience, when we say the word Coaching, you assign your own definition, and value, to the word, with visions of training plans, email and phone call frequency dancing in your head. But our Team Coaching model adds Community to the equation. We'd like to share with you just a few examples of our Community, the driving force behind so much of what we do:

Our free Tri-Rallies on the Ironman USA and Wisconsin courses. We woke up one day in 2009 and realized that, despite our attempts to cling to the typical model of the high dollar, come-train-with-a-smart-guy training camp, our members were organizing their own free and super cool training weekends on the courses with each other. In 2010 we just picked up the ball for them, turning up the organization dial and opening them up to the world. 60+ joined us in Lake Placid, 70+ in Madison, and the ball is rolling towards 2011.

Our race weekends have taken on a life of their own, with 25-40 athletes racing Ironman Coeur d'Alene, USA, Louisville
, and Wisconsin, with similar numbers expected at Arizona and Florida. Can you put a price on plugging your family into a team dinner, and race weekend experience, with over 70 fellow TeamEN family members?

Our Community has an ethos of helping each other, far beyond triathlon. Several members in the medical fields started a Medical Help Forum, of their own initiative, to help their teammates with a variety of issues. Our members have loaned each other bikes and gear on a moments notice, shared employment opportunities, planned vacations to meet each other, gathered for regional family BBQ's, and created some members only training and racing resources that you simply will not find anywhere else.

Finally, can you name another entity in the coaching space whose customers are inspired to support each other on the course by wearing custom pink speedos?
That level of passion, and fun, is hard to find these days and, more importantly, our members have created it for themselves. Rich and Patrick will be the first to tell you that they have had very little to do with creating this community. Their athletes, with a shared passion and committment to helping each other and sharing resources, started to roll a ball down a hill in 2007 and that ball has grown very big and very unique, with a life all its own.
Again, we invite you to create a FREE Two-Week trial membership to come inside and sample our Community for yourself.
See you on the inside!

Trial Reminder: Member Testimonials

Our Members Tell You About Their TeamEN Experience
If you have created your trial, there is no need to read this email.

Whenever possible, we prefer to have the testimonials and results of our athletes speak for us:

YOU WANT RESULTS??? I found real results with Endurance Nation. In two seasons with EN, I went from being a corporate couch potato, where my heavy exercise sessions were walking to the next meeting, to real WORK the EN way. 76 lbs and 3 IM's later I am going to KONA!!! RnP and the EN team I can't thank you all enough!!!! This is a 25-year dream come true.
When my name was called, my wife, Sandra, stood up and screamed while I sat there trying to process what I thought was the impossible, tears of happiness beginning to form. The icing on the cake was some of the EN team was there to share my joy! Aimee H, Scott L, and Rick J. were there. Being part of the EN team made this possible and I it was such a joy to see their true excitement for me. -- Matt Samojeden
We invite you to review what our other members have to say about their experiences with the EN Team Coaching model.
We created this free trial membership opportunity because, despite these testimonials, we've found it difficult to explain to people outside the Haus exactly what we have going on inside..so we have decided to let you in so you can sample the coaches, the team, and our vibe to decide for yourself if we are a good fit for you.
Create your free 14-day trial membership today!
As a quick reminder, this trial membership opportunity will end this Sunday evening. This is your last opportunity to join TeamEN at the 2010 price of $99/mo before the 2011 price of $129/mo takes effect.
See you on the inside!

Trial Membership Update: Our Resources

A Few Things You May Not Know about TeamEN
If you have created your trial, there is no need to read this email.
Yesterday we sent you an invitation to create a FREE 14-day trial membership with Endurance Nation.
We wanted to take this opportunity to tell you a few things that you may not know about TeamEN. Did you know that:

We have created our own Long Course Training Manual? Published in the fall of 2008, The Book lays out exactly how Rich and Patrick train age group athletes, just like you, for long course triathlon. We invite you to read The Book and learn more about how we coach our athletes.

We wrote the book on training and racing long course triathlon with power? For years, Coach Rich had been experimenting with his training and racing, analyzing the data from his athletes, and learning exactly how to apply these tools to the long course game. In 2008, Rich and Patrick collaborated with some leaders in the power space to create the Power Webinar
, a stoopidly comprehensive learning tool which, most importantly, presents a proven strategy for racing with power. This strategy has been implemented by hundreds of TeamEN members, producing AG winning bike splits, course records, and massive PR's. Finally, Rich was interviewed by Hunter Allen, author of Training and Racing with Powermeter
, and our power racing method was featured in the second editon of the book. In short, if you are interested in learning how to train and race triathlon with power, there is no better place than TeamEN. Don't have power? Don't worry! The Team is probably split 60/40 power to heart rate athletes...you still get the benefit of training with power-based plan, and you will see results!

We have also created a proven system for training and racing triathlon with pace? At Ironman Coeur d'Alene in 2008, we closely tracked 15 athletes across the bike and the run, and compared EN-execution strategies to the entire field of participants. Using this information and through constant collaboration and brainstorming with our community of athletes, our pace methodology ensures your daily training is targeted to optimal race day performance. Please download our free ebook on Training with Pace.

We have created 3-4 unique podcasts and videos to accompany every week of every one of our 20+ training plans -- for example, two podcasts and video specific to Week 16 of your Intermediate Ironman training plan. This is all hosted in our proprietary training plan platform. Our best, members-only supporting content right next to your plan, when you need it.

We have created a comprehensive system for racing Ironman. While our Four Keys DVD, in the mail to you shortly, and our Four Keys Talks, attended by over 700 athletes this season alone, are our most visible example, we have also created the products below:

Half and Full Ironman Execution How-To's for our members. These resources tell our members how to execute every inch of the course -- from what to pack, how to set up your bike (and why), recommended gearing (and why), what to eat, exactly how to pace yourself on the bike and run...and much, much more.
Ironman Course Talks: detailed guidance for every inch of every specific US Ironman
TriathlonExecution.com and our Race 101 virtual seminar. The only How to Race Ironman product on the space.
Why are we telling you all of this?
These resources are an example how our Team Coaching model has set us free from the constraints of traditional, expensive, 1:1 coaching. We are highly incentivized to provide our members with a comprehensive suite of how-to-train, how-to-race resources hosted within a dynamic community of athletes committed to helping each other become better and faster triathletes.
We invite you to create your free 14-day trial membership, come inside, and check it out for yourself!
See you on the inside!
