Hi ,
Happy Solstice! I hope you have been enjoying the sunshine. I know I have. It's great to get outdoors and spend time in nature, soaking up some sunshine to restock our vitamin D levels.
Do You Feel You've Done Something Wrong?
If something you planned didn't go the way you wanted it, or something didn't turn out like you thought it would, do you automatically think you've done something wrong?
This is a common feeling I've discovered recently. It seems to be an underlying belief that many people have. Well the thing is with beliefs is that often they're not even our own! We absorb beliefs like a sponge soaking up water at a young age. Beliefs from our parents, family, teachers, religious leaders, peers etc.
If your beliefs are actually serving you then fine. But if they are not serving you then you can do something about it. Below is a tapping script that deals with the underlying belief that we've done something wrong, it's somehow our fault things didn't turn out as we planned.
As always, rate your score first. With a belief you can ask - how true is this? To empower ourselves we want this to end up at 0 (i.e. not true at all).
Setup:
Tap on the Karate Chop whilst repeating three times:
- Even though I automatically think I've done something wrong if things don't turn out how I planned them, I deeply and completely accept myself anyway
- Even though I always think I've done something wrong, if something goes wrong, I accept myself and my feelings anyway
- Even though I don't know why I always think I've done something wrong, I accept myself anyway and I'm open to the possibility that I can change this belief today
Eyebrow: If something goes wrong
Side of Eye: I automatically think I've done something wrong
Under Eye: If things don't go as I planned them
Under Nose: I automatically think I've done something wrong
Chin: If thinks don't turn out right
Collarbone: I always think it's my fault and I've done something wrong
Under Arm: I always blame myself
Top of Head: I always think I've done something wrong
Eyebrow: I'm always blaming myself
Side of Eye: If something goes wrong
Under Eye: It must be my fault
Under Nose: I've done something wrong obviously!
Chin: If something even goes slightly wrong
Collarbone: I'll blame myself and think I've done something wrong
Under Arm: I'm not sure why I do this
Top of Head: I always think I've done something wrong
Eyebrow: I'm open to figuring this out
Side of Eye: What if I was kinder to myself
Under Eye: Maybe it isn't my fault
Under Nose: Maybe I can give myself a break
Chin: What if it I didn't think I'd done something wrong
Collarbone: Maybe things just didn't work out
Under Arm: What if I could release this blame game
Top of Head: I'm open to the possibility that maybe I've not done anything wrong
Use your words where appropriate to really tune in to how you feel. Remember to keep tapping until this belief has gone completely and you stop blaming yourself and thinking you've always done something wrong. Use visualisation to imagine something not going right and how you now react. You may need to keep a record of how you handle things and check back with yourself to ensure this has really cleared.
Keep tapping until your belief serves you.
Mind Movies
I mentioned mind movies last month. These are simply the pictures we repeatedly play in our mind. They could be movies about the present, the past or the future. Just spend some time observing the movies that you play in your mind. Are they positive movies or are they more negative? We always get what we focus on, so you want to try to create the most positive movies you can. If you find yourself always creating negative movies and scenarios in your mind then try tapping on it. E.g. Even though I always seem to create negative scenarios in my mind, I'm open to learning to be more positive etc. Tapping through the points firstly on the negative, e.g. these negative mind movies, I always seem to create negative scenarios etc. Then when you have cleared that energy, try tapping in on the positive. E.g. I create positive mind movies, I always create positive scenarios. This may take a little practice, but with time you can do this. If you find yourself slipping back to negative mind movies/scenarios then just spend some time thinking about how you can change that negative movie into a positive one. Enhance your movies by turning up the colours, the sounds, the feelings you get and keep playing those positive movies in your mind to create what you desire! I'd love your feedback on this exercise!
Energy Exercise of the Month
"Oh my God" Points
This is one will take slightly longer, 3 - 5 minutes.
Benefits:
- Reduces stress
- Releases overwhelm
- Calms you if you are feeling highly emotional
- Helps you think clearly
We often touch these points naturally when we are shocked and say "Oh my God". They are located on the forehead above the eyes (about 1" above your eyebrows). In most people this area is slightly raised. They are also called the frontal eminences.
Lightly place your fingertips on your forehead, covering the frontal eminences. Place your thumbs on your temples, next to your eyes and breathe deeply for 3 - 5 minutes. The blood will return to your fore brain and you will find yourself feeling less stressed, overwhelmed and able to think clearly again. These points are neurovascular points that control blood flow around the body. When we are stressed the blood flows away from this area and we can encourage it back by doing this simple exercise.

Quote of the Month
"Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher." William Wordsworth
Now that summer is here we are truly blessed with the all the flowers, trees, birds and animals that surround us. I hope that you take time out to spend time with nature. Allowing yourself to sit quietly and "be". This is so recharging for our mind, body and spirit. Especially if we spend most of time indoors. Enjoy the long days and the extra hours of daylight and rejoice in natures gifts.
Fitting in EFT
One of our biggest challenges is actually making the time to help ourselves feel better. We all have the ability to do this, it's just sometimes we can't find the time. The beauty of EFT of course, is that it usually works very quickly. I'm going to bring you ways to fit EFT in each month, so you can find the time to feel better.
On hold tapping:
If you find yourself waiting on hold on the phone then why not take the opportunity to do some tapping. If you find yourself feeling stressed or frustrated then tap for it. If you feel ok, then you can tap on another issue. Just rate your SUDS as normal and do some tapping whilst you wait. You might as well use the time constructively! If you don't want to "get into an issue" because you might not have enough time, then just tap for "restricted breathing" - we could all do with breathing better during the day when we aren't consciously thinking about breathing deeply.
