“Never let yesterday use up too much of today.” ~ John l. Mason

Good Morning!

Learning to break the cycle of anxiousness and worry isn’t simple.  It takes time, practice, and persistence.  Worries about finances follow many of us throughout the day.  We feel guilt over “not getting everything done.”  Household commitments sometimes seem endless.  We worry about our children; we worry about our loved ones.  And that worry and preoccupation end up robbing the joy from the magic of today.

There is nothing more freeing than finally “letting go.”  You’ll recognize the feeling, because the little things you have been missing will begin to shine and glisten like never before.  So, how do we learn to do that?  How do we practice letting go?

To practice letting go, make a list of three things you need to let go of.  Focus on events that you cannot control – those which your endless fretting will not advance.  Each time your mind drifts to one of these three items, remind yourself to “let go.”  I like to say in my mind, “Let go and let God.”  It helps me to feel I am not giving up, but instead giving my items over to something with much more power than I will ever have.

Continue to practice this daily, until the “letting go” becomes automatic.  No doubt, at times, you will stumble and struggle.  In those times, come back to this written practice.

Your Turn:  Write down three things you could benefit from letting go of.

Today’s Affirmation:  I let go of the past and stay in the present, so I may experience happiness now.

And as always, don't forget to start your day with a heartfelt: "Something great is going to happen today... I can't wait to see what it is!"

And when ending your day ask yourself: "What is one more thing I can do to make today matter?
