Hello !

This weeks tech tip is about kiln carving patterns (timely, since there are two new patterns for you):

When I'm cutting out a kiln carving pattern, I cut the pattern and the fiber paper on the first pass:

and then, lift off the paper and run my razor blade around the edge of the pattern again.

This prevents tearing and helps keep the fuzzy edges down.  And yes, I do use a straight edge razor for kiln carving patterns.  I'm old school.

On the blog:

Free June Kiln Carving Pattern, late, but still fabulous!

Q & A Monday, with all sorts of awesome reader questions answered.

Two other things that you should know:

I'm taking suggestions for a design for the August Kiln Carving pattern over on facebook.  If you are not a facebook user, simply reply to this message with your suggestions. I will use the most popular suggestion for the August design.

Also, if there are any glass folks in Florida, I will be in Orlando and Tampa in November, let me know if you would be interested in meeting up for a glass chat poolside.

Thanks so much for reading.  If you have a suggestion for a recycled glass tutorial, or a tech tip, I'd love to hear it!

Best Regards,
Jodi McRaney Rusho
