actionable marketing guide

Dear ,

I hope that you had a good holiday break and were able to unplug and relax.

I’ve set ambitious goals for my business and personal life for 2016. By contrast I didn’t make any New Year’s resolutions.

The reason: Based on my past experience, they’re too easy to jump into only to throw out the window as soon as there’s bump in the road.

I decided it’s better to achieve steady progress towards a set of goals that are meaningful to me and to my business.

2016 will be a year of slow marketing. Like the Slow Food movement that’s in contrast to fast food, slow marketing is in contrast to growth hacking. It’s deliberate marketing to achieve long-term growth and profits.

While overnight success is great, it often happens after years of effort that’s hidden from public view. How many people admit to the hard work of trial and error?

Your business needs a strong foundation for long-term growth. Further, reliance on tactics that have been used over and over again by more and more people yields diminished returns. I’ve watched this happen time after time.

One of the key tactics I’m focused on in 2016 is making time to attend key conferences and to connect with other marketers and influencers. I view this as an investment in my business that enables me to broaden my reach and to build real life relationships.

To that end, I’m speaking on how to be a blogging machine (please note the actual title and description haven’t been formalized yet) at Social Media Marketing World 2016 (SMMW 2016) in San Diego on April 17-19th

I’m creating fresh new content that reveals my secret tips for cranking out amazing content on a regular basis.

Last year, I went to Social Media Marketing World 2015 as an attendee. I paid for the conference and traveled on my own dime. It was worth every hard earned penny even though I attended very few of the sessions.

My goal was to network non-stop. It was a lesson I learned from my friend and colleague Ian Cleary.

At SMMW 2015, I met and talked with marketers and influencers from around the world. Many of whom I only knew virtually through social media. I was surprised that some of them even knew who I was.

While these relationships didn’t result in a direct ROI—I didn’t come home with leads or sales—I laid the foundation for deepening relationships that will help my business for the long term.

To encourage you to join me at Social Media Marketing World 2016, I’m offering to meet with the first 10 people who register and attend the conference through my affiliate link. It’ll be your opportunity to AMA (about marketing)!!!  (Please understand that I believe that my personal life is, well, personal.)

I hope that you’ll take this opportunity to invest in yourself and your business by joining me at Social Media Marketing World 2016.

Check out Social Media Examiner’s SMMW 2015 video. (I’m dancing around the 8 second mark!)

I’d love to know what you’re seeking to achieve in 2016. Please let me know.

Happy marketing,
Heidi
