from Phuong ....
Wow,
we are already in October - which also means it's Breast Cancer
Awareness Month. So don't forget to go for your annual check up at your
local clinic. It's always better safe than sorry.
All through out October, we will be featuring 'pink' sex toys
and donating 10% of sales towards the Canadian Breast Cancer
Foundation. If you prefer, you may also donate
to the foundation directly.
Why
can't I have an orgasm with my boyfriend?
This
is a question I get quite often from women - at toy
parties and in-store. The reason I hear this a lot is either
they don't understand their own anatomy, pressure themselves to come or
have this false notion that every woman has to have an orgasm during
sex.
And when they don't have an orgasm through intercourse, then there is
something wrong with their body.
Which of course is UN-TRUE.
Understand that women, in general, need a little extra stimulation. We
need fore-play, clitoral massage, or playful touch of other
erogenous zones on the body.
Unfortunately penetration alone is not going to cut it, female body is
not conditioned to climax this way (for most women).
According to
an interview
with Dr. Gail Saltz and Dr. Drew Pinsky:
50-60%
of women will never have an orgasm via intercourse
and will require clitoral stimulation to climax.
30% of women will have a reliable orgasm with intercourse.
10% of women will orgasm with intercourse and could possibly have
sequential orgasms.
5% of women have true multiple orgasms only through intercourse and
these women typically find oral sex uncomfortable.
What
is up with the obsession over the "Big O" ?
Is it because if you don't have an orgasm like in the movies, romance
novels, or porn - somehow the experience is not good or
meaningful? This sort of thinking is unrealistic, yet we still
do it.
Rather than question why you cannot have an orgasm with your boyfriend,
ask this instead.
"How do I have the most amazing orgasm without the pressure
and share my desires to my partner?"
Here
is what I have to say;
"Orgasms are your own
- not to be rushed and not to
be expected. Sometimes it's mind blowing and other times a subtle
tremor. The best orgasms are when you let go, without inhibition,
without thought but to just feel. It's okay to be selfish and own your
orgasm, it is yours to experience and do as you please. When you feel
in-tune with your own body, making love to yourself, and feel the joy
that it brings - only then are you truly able share
your orgasm with someone else."
What it boils down to is this - you are responsible for your own
orgasms and pleasure, not your girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, lover,
etc.
If you are unsure of how to achieve orgasm by yourself then I
suggest you pick
up a couple of books.
Dispelling the widely held myth of genital penetration as the apogee of
sexual pleasure, Kerner, who holds a doctorate in clinical sexology,
offers this witty, well-researched manual for "consistently leading
women to orgasm" through cunnilingus.
Loaded with practical anatomical
information (the clitoris has 18 distinct parts, and more nerve fibers
than any other part of the human body) and graphic line drawings, the
book also touches on the less mechanical, more psychological aspects of
oral sex, including the three assurances every woman needs from her
lover to feel comfortable .... read more
