It's about the equivalent of someone wanting to become the next American Idol or an athlete going PRO in their sport. And quite frankly, there's so much pressure IF you get there, it aint even worth it! So where does that leave the average folks?! It can make the average person feel like it's next to impossible to not only make a lousy buck, but actually even try to eliminate working for THE BOSS. the perfect length for website content/articles (May 24, 2010)...

Date: May 24, 2010 ... I'm sure you've been faced with this dilemma at one point in time. Perhaps it's even still a burning question in your mind. But really -- what IS the perfect length of website content to put on your site and even to publish outside your website? I've got a few words about length for you to take into consideration. So let's clear something up... Now, when I say website content, I also mean articles which is also a piece of website content is -- an article on a specific topics? Shoot -- you can write an article for the About page of your website instead of a bland, boring page, but that's another discussion for another day. I truly believe LENGTH of content is relative. Now, me for instance, I have an incredibly tough time keeping my articles under 3,000 words. "3000 words! You kidding me Jim?!" Yeah, and I have some articles that actually go over 10,000 words (and could probably be sold as a short report). No wonder one blog I have has over 583 pages of content in just a couple of years from starting it. And it's ALL unique content. So I'm going to give you blunt and straight out answer to this question. But here's the problem. I see SO many people simply trying to cut their content short just to make a cut off. Some folks I see just doing 350 - 450 words in their articles. Look -- the only person you cut short when you cut your content off at some magical number is YOUR VISITOR. So here's how I would rather have you to look at the length of content. ***MAGICAL QUESTION*** Do you simply want to create website visitors that bolt through your content, click something and then move on (showing absolutely no interest in loyalty)? or Would you rather turn casual website visitors into loyal followers that count on you for critical updates on the topic at hand? I think most would say they want the latter -- what about you? So then the magical question comes back to the original. "How long is long enough for website content?" The answer to that is how much REAL value do you want to put into the article. Because that value you put into the article is ultimately going to lead to the kind of returns on investment. Perhaps this is why when you consider the length of my articles, it's easy to understand why I have developed over 60,000 names in my prospect database. Sure, I'll take a 3,000 word article and dilute it down to a 750-900 word article to distribute outside my site, but I make sure there is immense value in it. Lastly, I make sure on ALL articles that I distribute outside my site to leave the extra good content to be said at my site so the conversation continues with the visitor. Most people are truly missing the boat on this tactic alone. Think about what TV Producers do. They always build toward making sure you watch the commercial and stay tuned after the commercial for the next segment, and the next segment -- all the way until you get to the end. Then -- they tease you with what is going to happen on the next episode. And when you incorporate this style of writing content, you will constantly be pulling in new prospects and feeding them your valuable content that creates long time loyal followers.
