If each layer was a time period, you could easily see the history of an area. I would like to see an integrated online map program that allows you to overlay historical maps to show how geography lines have changed over time. A program that allows the student to track progress of advancing armies or journeys or immigration patterns or religion spreads would help bring understanding to an increased level. I would like a book of maps that goes step by step through the time line so, as I teach each important event, I can show with ease and detail how the world changed. What I would like to see is an interactive, progressive, political map.
