Why living books?

It's Spring... It's gorgeous outside... no one wants to study anymore. But they do want to learn about butterflies and hummingbirds and gardening and getting the pool ready for use! Let them. Give them freedom to pursue the things that interest them during this beautiful season.

Then, when they get hot and seek shelter under a tree or indoors, provide books that stir the imagination and stimulate their passion to do great things. Offer them living books - books written by passionate authors about their subject of interest. Living books may include fiction and non-fiction, how-to and just-because. Historical biographies can be living too, so we've put ours on sale and provided free ones for your family to get a taste. Enjoy reading about these ordinary people who accomplished extraordinary deeds.

A Child's Geography: Explore His Earth is a rare find, because you don't usually find a book that combines scientific principles with geography, written from a biblical worldview by a homeschool mom who has such a heart and compassion for the world -- a poet who has a book that has been on the New York Times Bestsellers list. A Child's Geography is written by an incredibly talented author who stirs the soul with her honest and transparent heart spilled out on paper. Ann Voskamp has the ability to take the globe and turn it into a beating heart, and weaves words like a master turns strands of thread into a tapestry. In addition, she understands the concepts and is able to present them in a fun and engaging way that children will understand, and that will pique their interest to learn more.

Writes Shari Popejoy, reviewer for Home Educating Family reviews. A Child's Geography is now available in iBooks as well as print and PDF versions:

An Election Year Special... The Road to the White House

How well does your child understand the electoral process? How about you? We can help...

The Road to the White House (board and card game)

My favorite educational products are those that you do not have to FORCE on your children! This game is one of them! Trust me, they will play this game on their own without any prompting from you. You will even want to play yourself!
Our family has played this game multiple times, enjoying the strategy as well as the knowledge that we are gaining. The Road to the White House is a fun (and strategic) game where young children (and even adults) will learn the locations of the 50 states and a bit about electoral votes and presidential elections in a way I've never seen before!

Only 75 games in stock, so hurry and grab yours while we still have them. A Presidential Scrapbook (also by Joel King) is on sale now too and can be purchased together with the White House game in a combo package at a great price.

Hi ,

Since sending out the newsletter this morning, we found that there are still a couple of glitches to the virtual convention website. Some of you have mentioned having trouble accessing our Tote Bag freebie - Map Trek: Ancient World ($14.95 value).

Here is some help for you:

1. After registering for the FREE conference at - http://bit.ly/FP4oW6, head back over to your email inbox and launch the website from the link provided, using your username and password.

2. At the bottom of your screen is a box that reads Tote Bag. Open that up and click on view next to the Knowledge Quest gift (Map Trek). This will launch an internal frame that takes you to our webpage to download.

3. IF you are still experiencing trouble, take the short-cut to our website, using this link - http://www.knowledgequestmaps.com/Map-Trek-Promo.html. You can download the ebook from here.

If you have any other trouble, please let us know. Homeschool Convention is still a little bit glitchy and is working out their kinks. It should be running smoothly soon. Please check back often as there are great speakers, vendor workshops and tote bag goodies that are rotating through weekly. Very fun!

Sorry for any inconvenience. Have a great day!

Which TimeMaps Would You Like?

They are here at last! TimeMaps - Maps that Move Through Time!

We have 7 of them so far!

But we want to add more and you can help! Our partnering company in England, TimeMaps Ltd, currently has three more time periods to add to our growing line (which now includes Ancient China, Rise of Rome, Fall of Rome, Rise of Islam, The Black Death, European Explorers and the Atlantic Slave Trade).

You can help us decide which TimeMaps to add next - 1. Norman Conquests; 2. Medieval England and Her Neighbors I (1087-1215); 3. Medieval England and Her Neighbors II (1215-1453). These are ready to go, but just need to be Americanized in language and wording to be more suitable for students here in the U.S.

We have additional topics under consideration, which you may vote on as well.

Vote Here!

Coupon Code! And since you are thinking about (and maybe even drooling over) TimeMaps, we'd like to offer a coupon code to make purchasing them even more fun. For a 25% discount, enter this code upon checkout - TM25 (expires 3/25/12)

Knowledge Quest Newsletter #163

Save up to 83% off available items!

If you are a long-time Knowledge Quest customer, then this is the Scratch and Dent sale that you've been waiting for all year. If you are new to Knowledge Quest, you just need to know that you are in for some incredible deals. The sale starts today - Tuesday, January 17th at 11:00am EST.

Scratch and Dent Sale

Every mail-order business encounters the problem of damaged merchandise. The damage may have happened during transit or even at the printing plant. It might also be the result of a customer returning a product without adequate protection. However, in the end, it doesn't really matter how it happened. The important point is that the damage has been done and without this sale, the product will just sit in our warehouse gathering dust.

All items offered in the Scratch and Dent sale have some sort of imperfection - usually a dented corner or a scuffed cover. This is not a used sale, rather a less-than-perfect sale. These blemishes are minor. The bad ones we simply throw away (actually, we recycle them.)

Because these dented and damaged products are available in very limited quantities, they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. This is our 6th annual sale and from our experience from the first five, there will be a buying frenzy. This may cause the website to act sluggishly, but your perseverance should pay off.
If a damaged product has been sold out, the shopping cart software on our site will not allow you to add it to your cart. Since damaged items sell very quickly, we urge you to not delay in completing your order.
Our customers' experience with this sale has been overwhelmingly positive. We think that you will love what you receive in the mail. Our policy is that items sold at these steep discounts are sold as-is and are non-refundable. However, if you find that you have received something that is unusable, please just give us a call and we will work out a satisfactory solution.
The Scratch and Dent sale is available for internet orders only! We really cannot accepted phoned-in orders for damaged items since the inventory is monitored by the website. So, all of that said, don't delay your order and enjoy the sale!
Scratch and Dent Sale starts today, January 17th at 11:00am EST (8:00am PST) and runs through Sunday, January 22nd at midnight.

Knowledge Quest Newsletter #162

Introducing... TimeMaps!

Over the years, we have conducted surveys... asking our customers and readers what they like about our current products, how we can improve and most of all, what they would like to see us provide in the future. So, we are providing what you've been asking for in a new software program called TimeMaps!

These are the requests we've been getting:
I would like layered maps of one region. If each layer was a time period, you could easily see the history of an area.
I would like to see an integrated online map program that allows you to overlay historical maps to show how geography lines have changed over time.
I would like to have map overlays to show how countries have changed over the years.
Here's my request... A program that allows the student to track progress of advancing armies or journeys or immigration patterns or religion spreads would help bring understanding to an increased level.
I would like a book of maps that goes step by step through the time line so, as I teach each important event, I can show with ease and detail how the world changed.
What I would like to see is an interactive, progressive, political map. To pick a time period and/or continent (or the entire globe, even) and then watch as the boundaries change before your eyes would be so relational!
Okay, then, you got it! Check out TimeMaps! At just $7.95, these are affordable, but more than that, they are dynamic, animated and extremely fascinating while studying history.

From all of us here at
Knowledge Quest, we wish you a happy New Year! Be sure to check out TimeMaps and look for our Ding and Dent sale notification next Tuesday.

A New Year and A New Look

So, we've got a new website design with a slightly new look. Why, you ask? Well, frankly, it's because we had a website crash at the end of December and had to remake it, page by page, anyway. So, we took the opportunity to freshen up a bit. How do you like it? (You can reply to this email with comments.)

Annual Ding and Dent Sale!

It's coming! Mark your calendars for January 17th at Noon EST. Once a year, we clear out our warehouse of damaged items (usually the result of rough handling by the parcel service). In good conscience, we can't sell these books at retail prices, but we can blow them out at 50% off.

Look for a notice in your email box on Tuesday, the 17th, with a link to the sale.
