[LAC Inside Scoop] Doh! Mea Culpa + An Exciting Announcement Sent Monday, August 15, 2011
Hi Everyone,

I have a super exciting announcement today, but first an apology: last week I accidentally sent you two emails in the same day - doh!! I would never do that to you on purpose! As I've said before, I have mondo respect for your inbox (because I know how crazy mine can get) which is why I feel the need to apologize and not just sweep it under the rug.

So what happened?

If you signed up for this newsletter after August 9, you weren't part of this snafu. For everyone else -- you may have noticed that on the day that the last long update went out, you also got a follow-up just hours later asking if you had a chance to check-out out the toolkit.

I created that message as a follow-up for NEW subscribers (a long overdue auto-responder sequence that I've been meaning to create to better engage and get to know new subscribers). Little did I know that Aweber would send that follow-up message to my ENTIRE list, some of whom have been here since March of 2010!

Remember how I told you that you're the best?

Reason #3: none of you unsubscribed or sent me angry emails. I was so relieved! I felt like an idiot, and I knew if I sent a third email that day to apologize it would only make a bad situation worse.

As a token of my appreciation for your understanding (who doesn't love a guilt gift every now and then?!) -- fill out this form and I'll mail you your very own Life After College bookmark as soon as I'm back from the 20SB Summit in Chicago (here's a video sneak preview of what I'm going to talk about in my keynote). The bookmark looks like this but with rounded corners:

Also, while I have you on this special between-regular-installments email, allow me to share two other announcements:

NEW WEBSITE DESIGN!!!!
-------------------------------

If you get a chance, pop on over to Life After College today -- the new blog design is up! I share the deeper purpose/intention behind each of the updates in today's post. As I say toward the end:

"I feel like my blog and I (yes, we're basically imaginary friends now) just moved into a mansion after living in a nice comfortable house that we had outgrown. I'm beyond excited to keep building out this site as I continue to grow into my business...so wherever you are, let's lift a virtual cupcake and toast Nina Cross for doing such a fantastic job!"

Because you're my "behind-the-scenes" list, I will also let you know that this launch didn't *quite* go as planned.

We were still working out some kinks last night and this morning...and then, while my blog and I were trying to lay low,  THE TWEETS STARTED and the floodgates opened.

As much as I wanted to be cool, calm and collected, there was a moment where I started getting upset. It felt like the launch was running away me...the site's not ready! The site's not ready! There were a few major things that still weren't working the way we wanted them to (because of how I had set-up my website back in 2006/2007), and I had a nervous pacing anxiety, wondering if/how/when it would all be fixed.

But alas, the crowds had spoken, so after a few reassuring conversations with ElisaWillie and Jamie, I let go and officially launched the gorgeous beauty that Nina put together. All of the tweaks (and new "choose your own adventure" landing page) will follow throughout the week. I'll share more of the strategy/business goals behind the site on the Q&A call tomorrow (see below).

Nina and I were on the phone today during some of the behind-the-scenes craziness and reminded ourselves that nobody's dying and we're not curing cancer - this is just a blog! It just so happens to be one that my whole life revolves around, LOL. I hope you all enjoy the new look and feel -- as always, I welcome your feedback!

If any of you need a redesign, I cannot recommend Nina highly enough. She is talented, professional, incredibly responsive and a great client mind-reader -- she translated my ideas and vision beautifully, and I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

Q&A CALL REMINDER
-------------------------------

Get excited! The second Inside Scoop Q&A call is tomorrow -- it will be recorded, but because of the interactive/informal Q&A format please try to make it if you can. And consider this: if there's only a few of you, it's almost like a private coaching call!

I'll answer any/all questions you have about leaving Google, behind-the-scenes development updates on Make Sh*t Happen, challenges I'm facing, help with your challenges, and anything else that would be interesting, inspiring and/or informative.

Call in details:
  • Tuesday, August 16 at 5:00PT/8:00ET
  • Dial-in number: 1-213-289-0500
  • Participant Access Code: 5992197
Just like last time, please feel free to ask and vote on questions in advance on the Google Moderator page. If you would to receive the recording afterward, please let me know here

Thank you for being awesome!!!!*
Jenny

*You're actually worth 400 exclamation marks, but I'm trying not to go overboard :)
