Thank You

Thank you to all of our walkers who participated in the CROS End Hunger Walk on Sunday, October 4th, 2015.  You raised $1056 and counting to feed the hungry of Palm Beach County. And, of course, thank you to all of you who supported them with your donations!

Mary Oliver on On Being

This Sunday, poet Mary Oliver was interviewed on the radio show "On Being." She spoke about her poetry, spirituality, and aging. It is a wonderful conversation, maybe especially for those of us, like Oliver, who are reaching our later years. Find it here.

Interfaith Thanksgiving Service

This Thanksgiving, November 26, 2015, the Lake Worth Interfaith Network will hold a service of gratitude right here at First Congregational United Church of Christ. Take a break from your cooking and join together as participants in the many faith traditions of Lake Worth come together sharing readings, prayer, and songs from their faith traditions.

Living Questions

Join us beginning in October for a new small-group experience. See more on our website.

No matter what your musical skill level, you will find a place in our choir! Choir rehearsals resume Monday evening, September 14th, at 7:00 PM.

Unexpected Answers
This Sunday we heard the story of Job's confrontation with God and James and John's request of Jesus. Neither received the answer they expected, but they heard the wisdom of God. You can watch the service and engage the conversation here.

Fellowship Hall
Spruced Up

You have probably noticed that the fellowship hall has a new coat of paint! Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible, especially for Barry Nicholson and Christopher Lepard for organizing our fundraising, and Barry Nicholson and Janet Lisle who oversaw the project.

Worship Planning Meeting
The next special season of the church year is Advent, the four weeks leading to Christmas when we prepare ourselves for for the incarnation of God in Christ and in our lives. Would you like to be a part of planning our worship during this season? We need help with chancel (stage) decoration, readings, music, and other elements. The word liturgy means "the work of the people" so we are going to take the opportunity to involve more people in creating our worship experiences. We will meet in person but also communicate and collaborate online. Contact Pastor Jason for more information.

Craft Sale and Flea Market Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed to help facilitate our Craft Sale and Flea Market on November 14th. Help is needed for set-up from 6:30 - 9:00 that morning, monitoring event from 9:00 - 2:00 PM, and help breaking down and resetting the fellowship hall at 2:00 PM. Let Bob Lilly or John Button know if you are able to help.

Online Giving

Have you explored the opportunity of electronic giving? You can choose to have a set amount taken from your bank account on a regular basis or you can make a one (or more) time gift by checking account or credit card on our website. Your regular electronic giving means that your gift is available for ministry even when you are away (or forgot your checkbook!). Thank you for your continued support of the ministry of First Congregational Church!

However, just liking us does not mean that you will see everything we post. Each of our Facebook posts only goes to about 2% of the people who like our page. To make sure you see everything, after you like us, go to the pull-down menu on the "Like" button and click "Get Notifications." This way everything that we post will show up on your own Facebook wall.
