Blessing of the Backpacks

Join us tomorrow evening, August 21st for a church family movie night! We will gather at 6:30 PM to eat (just bring enough to share of whatever you are best at) and at 7:00 PM, we'll start the movie McFarland, U.S.A., an inspirational film based on the true story of a cross country coach in a small California town who transforms a team of athletes into championship contenders.

The Seven

This Sunday we continued our journey through the seven cardinal sins by talking about anger. Anger is a paradox, often necessary to compel us to do good, yet deadly if we let it fester inside of us. You can watch the sermon here.

Season of Creation

In September we will be engaging The Season of Creation in our worship. In word, song, and visual art we will celebrate our Creator and creation and explore our place in the cosmos. You can read more on our website.

Listening Meetings

In September we will be kicking off the P.E.A.C.E. year by holding listening meetings in various locations and at various times. The purpose of these meetings is to create a safe, sacred space for us to share our stories of what we are concerned about in our community. Find the times and places for meetings on our website.

 Facebook

If you are on Facebook, you can keep up with what is happening "between Sundays" on our Facebook page. First, go to our page and "Like" us. However, just liking us does not mean that you will see everything we post. Each of our Facebook posts only goes to about 2% of the people who like our page. To make sure you see everything, after you like us, go to the pull-down menu on the "Like" button and click "Get Notifications." This way everything that we post will show up on your own Facebook wall.

Ego and Spirituality

We have mentioned the ego recently in our Sunday morning teaching. Spirituality and Health recently published an interesting article on ego and spirituality. If you have the time and interest, you can find it here.

Online Giving

Have you explored the opportunity of electronic giving? You can choose to have a set amount taken from your bank account on a regular basis or you can make a one (or more) time gift by checking account or credit card on our website. Your regular electronic giving means that your gift is available for ministry even when you are away (or forgot your checkbook!). Thank you for your continued support of the ministry of First Congregational Church!
