Stewardship Seminar

Are you interested in learning how to sustain and grow the financial resources needed to continue to fund our practicing community of faith, mercy, and justice? On August 6th and 7th, we will welcome Rev. Patrick Rogers, former CPA and current pastor of Fort Lauderdale United Church of Christ for a seminar on church stewardship. For more information, click here.

Life Consists of ...
This week we heard Jesus' story about the rich fool in Luke 12:13-21 and talked about building longer tables instead of taller fences. You can watch the service here.

Engaging the Lectionary

We are engaging and experimenting with the Revised Common Lectionary, the three-year cycle of readings followed by many churches around the world. For each Sunday, there are three readings: one from Hebrew Scripture (the "Old Testament"), one from the four Gospels, and one from another part of Christian Scripture (the "New Testament"). For each week there is also a Psalm. We will be weaving all four scripture passages into our worship each week in different ways including music and video. If you would like you can participate in reading the daily scripture passages leading up to each Sunday. You can find them on your Connection Card each Sunday, and on Pastor Jason's blog.

Audio Visual Team
Our audio visual team is continuing to grow and they need your help. If you are willing to learn our sound and/or projection system, help create worship presentations, or help run our camera on Sundays, please see Vickie Grimes.

Facebook

First, go to our page and "Like" us. However, just liking us does not mean that you will see everything we post. Each of our Facebook posts only goes to about 2% of the people who like our page. To make sure you see everything, after you like us, go to the pull-down menu on the "Like" button and click "Get Notifications." This way everything that we post will show up on your own Facebook wall.  If you are on Facebook, you can keep up with what is happening "between Sundays" on our Facebook page.

Thank you
Last week our missions committee collected money for the Heifer International's Empowering Women project which enables women in Nepal, India to start their own businesses. You gave $140 to this important project. Thank you!

Children in Worship
For the next four weeks, our children will be with us in worship as we prepare for a new SpiritKidz year. We will have activities in which they can participate in worship.

Help Needed

CROS Ministries needs 3-4 volunteers to help them for Aug 11th from 11:30 - 2:00 to pick up pizza, set tables, and clean up afterwards. They are having a luncheon at their offices/fellowship hall at Calvary Methodist.  Contact Mary Ellen if you can help. 561-543-2192

School Supply Drive

We are once again collecting school supplies for North Grade Elementary School. Check out our website for a list of supplies.

Summer Breaks
Our Sunday morning Bible study and our Thursday evening Cennacle Meditation group will both be on hiatus until September. Enjoy your summer!

Toiletries Needed

On the first Tuesday of each month we distribute toiletries to our Community Dinner guests. We are currently in need of small soaps, shampoos, deodorants, feminine hygiene products, wash cloths, tooth brushes and tooth paste.

Online Giving

Have you explored the opportunity of electronic giving? You can choose to have a set amount taken from your bank account on a regular basis or you can make a one (or more) time gift by checking account or credit card on our website. Your regular electronic giving means that your gift is available for ministry even when you are away (or forgot your checkbook!). Thank you for your continued support of the ministry of First Congregational Church!
