March 1, 2015

For 40 days, Satan tempts Jesus in the wilderness. The scriptures tell us Jesus was there with the wild animals and that the angels waited on him. The image of animals with Jesus sends a clear message about our connection to all God’s creation. God desires peace among God’s creation and an end to violence and cruelty against nature. No matter what our negative associations with “wilderness” are, we know that God is there, God’s creation is connected. We do not journey alone through Lent.

If you missed being with us in worship Sunday, you can watch the worship service here. And don't forget to pick up your "Lent In a Bag" next time you are on campus!

This week, reflect on the moments when you’ve been in the “wilderness” of life – a physical, emotional, or spiritual wilderness. Think about who and what was with you at that time. Recall how your connections with God, creation, and others came to your aid. Carry these moments with you as you begin your Lenten journey.

Facebook

If you are on Facebook, you can keep up with what is happening "between Sundays" on our Facebook page. First, go to our page and "Like" us. However, just liking us does not mean that you will see everything we post. Each of our Facebook posts only goes to about 2% of the people who like our page. To make sure you see everything, after you like us, go to the pull-down menu on the "Like" button and click "Get Notifications." This way everything that we post will show up on your own Facebook wall.
