Hi all,

I hope you had a wonderful fourth of July for those of you here in the good ol' USA. We had a great time celebrating with friends, as you can see on Cali's face as she runs across the yard with her sparkler. No matter where you are, I hope that you are enjoying your everyday moments with your loved ones. If you need a laugh today, be sure and check out the videos from the Operation: Rogue Gypsies website. Take care of yourself today.

Operation: Rogue Gypsies

ProvaCraft has taken their marketing campaign to a new level. I have to admit, as I watched the videos I found myself laughing out loud. Apparently ProvoCraft is about to release the "Gypsy", a portable device for the Cricut. This is from the Operation: Rogue Gypsies site, as told by Donnie K., the bounty hunter: (Seriously...you have to go watch the videos!)

donniek_aboutphoto"Provo Craft has a little problem so they gave me a ring. Apparently they've got a new hand held electronic device named Gypsy that's going to revolutionize the crafting world. They sent out 13 units to be tested by some crafter types and only three of them were returned. I gotta go track down the other 10.
Piece of cake.

Don't know much about machine, sounds pretty cool. This is all the info they sent me."

They have built suspense by first creating this countdown site. It says that the big reveal is July 27th. (I'm leaving the big countdown up on my computer because that is also my birthday. So sweet of Provocraft to count down the seconds until I turn the big 3-0!)I'm not sure when it is expected to be available yet. It sounds awesome, but there is a rumor that when you load your cartridges onto it that it erases them to prevent sharing. The idea of spending all that money on cartridges and then having them erased doesn't sit well with me. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
New Video: A Peak Inside The Missing Manual

I have just posted a new video on the Learning The Cricut blog that takes a look inside of Cricut Design Studio: The Missing Manual. If you have ever wondered what exactly is in the video-enhanced ebook, take a minute to watch it and find out.

A Note for the Locals

Just a reminder that the Tulsa Creating Keepsakes Convention will be here August 21st and 22nd. This is the first year in several that you won't find me teaching. Apparently I can't sit still though, because this year I'll be working on a project of my own.

I am renting a high-end FAST scanner from Indiana the week of August 17th. I have a lot of heritage photos and ones from my childhood that I want to get preserved before something happens to them. So, if you are wanting yours done to preserve or share with family, give me a call at (918) 639-0129 or email me at info@learningthecricut.com to set an appointment. I will take all the appointments I can possibly take that week before I have to ship the scanner back. Prices for scans range from 20-30 cents each depending on how many you need done. They can be burned to a cd or saved to a travel drive. (This YouTube video shows the scanner and its speed.)

A Book for Cali

Many of you know that I am a huge fan of Heritage Makers. I made a book the other day of our family trip to the dinosaur museum. She's gonna LOVE it! If you'd like to see it you can look at it here. It make take a second to load, but I'd love to hear what you think about it!

I also made a card for our friends Darren and Beth. I love being able to decorate all of the sides and include pictures!

Cricut Design Studio: The Missing Manual

If you haven't checked out the manual for the Cricut Design Studio you can read about it here. It is a 50 page downloadable manual with screenshots and links to a FULL HOUR of how to videos.

Here's an excerpt from an email I recently received:

"I just purchased your book yesterday and am thrilled with what you have done.  It has "opened" my Design Studio for me.  I have been fumbling around like many, I'm sure, self-teaching myself how to make the program do what I want it to do and what the literature tells me it will do...I teach a Cricut class...Now, I can direct them to your e-book.  What a great tool.
