Summer's Sizzle..

Summer has hit us full force, and we're loving it! But with summer-time comes a break in scheduling, and that means interruption in our fitness regime.  
 
It's hard to sometimes fit it all in, and staying on track with your fitness and eating can be a chore. So in this month's Healthy Living Program E-Workout, we're on a special HLL (Heavy, Lighter, Lightest) 3-Day Split program (yep, you read it...only 3 days) that will keep that lovely muscle on your body, while simultaneously allowing for some nice fat-burning! It's all about trying to do the best you can with what you've got, right?

Not into gym training in summer? Then check out my lovely 8-Week Bliss Body Program, that allows for training at home, and you can progress if you choose to, to your local gym!

Whatever your constraints,
make a promise to self to continue to move well, eat well, and stay well! At the end of the long 12-weeks, you'll be glad you did!

 
Training Tip: Loosen your Grip!
 
Old school training protocols are always interesting to learn, and one that I learned years ago is pertains to your grip.
 
See, when you grip a piece of equipment hard, it actually takes momentum and energy from the muscle you are working, so the goal is to grip lightly.

For instance, let's take the leg extension: if, in all your exertion, you grip the handles too hard, you are actually taking energy away from your quads. Sounds woo woo, but it's true! Sports science has proven this fact!
 
So next time, focus hard on the working muscle, and light on your grip while executing the move! .

 
 
   
Spiritual Lesson - Being Crystal Clear
 
When it comes to creating a desired change in your life, often times we know what we want, but we are not quite willing to let go and accept it in whatever way it comes. In other words, in the words of Spiritual Intuitive Carolyn Myss, "it's not that they fear failure or success, they want change, but they don't want to be made uncomfortable int he process...they resist change." 

See, people get 'so comfortable with'knowing where their dishes are, what their daily schedule is, and when the garbage goes out. They want change, sure, but with minimal interruption to their comfort level. That's just unrealistic. They want it, but not enough!"

I've seen this in my own life - asking for change and then gritting my teeth because I didn't want it to be too upsetting. It was only when I let go of the 'how' and allowed whatever to happen to happen, truly, truly allowed it to come in, that the changes happened. Was it tumultuous? Oh yeah! Was it worth it? Every bit of it!

When you ask, be prepared for the waters to part. If not, then don't. But if you do, and you resist, you will shut down the process!

  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Congrats Challenger Graduates!
 
A few weeks ago, I graduated another 27 lovely, brave women off the 10-Week Best Shape of YOUR Life Challenge. With 6 years running, and over 350 ladies graduated, I am proud of the work we are doing here, with the Best Shape Challenge.

-Best Guns Award - Kathryn Branson...wow, nice arms, my dear! We loved seeing you flex on our Facebook page!
-Best Natural Shape Award - Nerina Holderness. – If I were to take anyone to stage with me, it would be this aesthetic beauty!

I have been a fan of Canadian coach and competitor Scott able for many years. His 40+ year of experience n the business of training and eating, and his say-it-like-it-is approach is refreshing and real.
