I hope that you are very well and that 2012 is being very nice to you. Are you keeping warm? My tricks to keep myself toasty are to drink lots of tea (peppermint is my fave) or go for a nice sweaty workout at the gym, followed by a relax in the sauna or steam room!

Your 2012 progress so far...

Welcome to February! How are things going for you? I hope you are well on your way to achieving your goals or maintaining your new healthy routines. Big high-five if you are! Don't worry if you are not. Sometimes progress can feel slow. You make two steps forward, but then for some reason you end up taking one step back. But you are still making progress, so please don't be disheartened!

Often we can start a new year full of enthusiasm and good intentions. We may embark on new healthy eating habits, or join a gym, or enrol on an interesting course, and get stuck in with joy and passion for the first few weeks, but now we are a month into the New Year, and the weather has suddenly gotten colder - perhaps those goals and visions aren't as sparkling and clear as they were 4 weeks ago? Maybe it's much more appealing to stay warm and cosy with some comfort food on the sofa after work. Sound familiar?

Here are 3 tips that may help if this is the case:

1. Ensure there is enough variety in your new lifestyle. One month in and you may be getting bored of the same food or exercise and you may be finding it hard to be enthusiastic about your healthy intentions. Re-fuel your motivation by looking at some new recipes (or healthy places to eat) or by trying a new class at the gym, or ask a friend to join you for a match of something new.

2. Re-read your goals and your vision that you set at the beginning of the year. Remind yourself why you are doing this! What do you hope to achieve? How will you feel when you reach your goal? Haven't written this down? Do so, right now!

3. You don't need to do this alone. Sometimes it can feel a lonely slog working towards a goal. Encourage a friend to join you to make it more fun and to share the ups and downs and to add a bit of friendly competition. Or join a forum and read inspiring blogs.

Inspire your employees / colleagues with a fun and motivating talk by Miss Best!

One of the things I love doing is giving inspiring talks to help people get excited about taking their energy and health to a sexy new level.

When giving a talk, I aim to inform the audience about common energy and health drains and encourage discussion about the issues these cause. I share ideas on the things that can boost their energy and health with simple tips that they can implement straight away so they can add more va-va-voom to their life.  

A simple and easily achievable (yet effective) tip might be: When meeting a friend at your favourite coffee shop, instead of the syrup sweetened latte AND chocolate cake choose either: the sweet latte and a fruit salad OR the cake with a peppermint or green tea (which has 0 calories, 0 fat and 0 sugar!) Small changes make up great achievements!


I can even tailor a talk to suit a specific issue or need you may have, and can perhaps recommend a caterer for healthy tasty food if you want to make it a breakfast or lunch-time talk. Recipe - Raw Chocolate Brownie

Being a big fan of tea and cake (perfect for chilly days!) I thought I would re-post this recipe. I enjoy this treat a lot as it makes a great dessert or tea-time treat. I think it travels well too, so it's also good for taking to the office.
