Yeah, this is Black History Month. Morgan Freeman says we
don't need one. And besides, why is it the shortest month of the
year? Morgan asks what month is White History Month or Asian
History month? Or Jewish History Month? Did we
get short changed? Or do we need a CHANGE?
No doubt we are living in the best of times and the worst of times - as
Blacks/African Americans.
We're in the best of times that
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King dreamed about - we have voting rights, civil rights
and even a Black man in the White House.
We're in the worst of times
because there is an alarming large percentage of African Americans in jail,
illiterate, dropping out of high school and living in poverty more than in any
other time in history.
One year into Barack Obama's Presidency, Emmy-awarding wining TV
personality, Jeff Miller has been spending a lot of time lately thinking about
how we can help him help us.
Recalling how the Senator from Illinois marshaled the forces of social
media to earn a decisively stunning victory in his quest to become the President
of the United States - we decided to do the same thing.
So,
let's change some things for the sake of our communities. We can stop
complaining about the plight of African Americans and start a viral campaign that will spur some
solutions. Spur some action. Start a viral campaign to change the way we
connect and interact and CARE about each other.
Can you share a tweet? Forward an email? Facebook a video? Can you learn?
Do you care enough to really make an impact on the future? The African proverbs
says "it takes a village to raise
a child."
That's
why Chocolate Pages launched the "Black History Month Tele-series" with Dr. Deborah Smith Pollard,
author of 'When the Church Becomes Your Party: Contemporary Gospel
Music' and Jeff Miller, author of "Up from the Under."

The conversation fast-paced and the dialogue
provocative. The turnout from people listening by phone or commenting on the
discussion via Facebook,
Twitter, Blogs, and other sites
illustrated the power of the social media
medium to quickly unite, engage or motivate people no matter the distance
or time zone
.
Jumping on the social media bandwagon with both feet
to make a change for REAL! We're not playing games. We are at a major TRANSITION in history and we are inviting
you to come and join in!
Here's how you can help. Create a video about a
solution to a problem in our community - any problem - literary, drugs, lack of
jobs, lack of mentors, teen pregnancy, disrespectful youth, racial profiling,
high divorce rates, demonic music/movies, digital divide, red lining - whatever
--- anything that you care about ---- and submit it (post it) to the group page at www.facebook.com/upfromtheunder by February 28,
2010.
Let's start a movement. We
want to ignite a fire that will dispel all apathy and get Black folks connecting
and making things happen, creating our own "bail out."
The
teleseries & the videos will get you to think, care and really feel so proud
to be part of a race of folks that can make things happen - to turn around
things that have gotten off track.
Join the conversation during Black
History Month. Tele-series every Monday in Feb. 6-7Pm (EST).

Dr. Deborah Smith Pollard and Jeff
Miller will select three videos that will
be featured in a media campaign through out the rest of year online via Ministry
Marketing Solutions and our media partners - with a goal of reaching more than
million eye balls - to make a difference - and a CHANGE for real.

importance of taking up this
cause:
