[MNASQ] Officer Elections and February Happenings Sent Thursday, February 2, 2012 View as plaintext

It's difficult to believe that we are more than half way through the program year!  Yet it is time again for our annual officer elections.  The election is held as part of the Annual Business Meeting at the February Program Meeting.  The Nominating Committee is proud to present the following candidates for office.

Bob Mitchell, Chair
 
Bob was elected to the position of Chair-Elect in 2011 and will be moving into the role of Chair starting July1st.  He is a long-time veteran of process quality management with 3M where he works as a Senior Quality Manager for 3M Lean Six Sigma Operations responsible for the deployment of Global Quality and international Lean Six Sigma.  Bob has been an active member of ASQ since 1985; he holds a CQE and CMQ/OE and has served two separate rotations as Chair of the ASQ Statistics Division. 
 

Julie Baker, Chair-Elect

Julie has been a member of ASQ since 2005 and began volunteering with MNASQ as the Treasurer for the 2008 Minnesota Quality Conference Planning. She moved into the role of Section Treasurer the following year where she worked diligently to improve and update the section's financial operations.  Julie served as a Section Director last year.  She has been with 3M since 1984 and the Quality representative for Dyneon LLC, a 3M Company supporting the Fluoropolymer products since 2004.
 

Jason Powell, Treasurer

Since the 80"s Jason has been providing leadership and training in areas of TQM, SPC, Toyota Production System (TPS), Six Sigma problem solving and DFM planning, LEAN manufacturing, and LEAN office. Recently his responsibilities have tended toward  implementation of internal quality, environmental, safety management systems, and development of supply chain vendor qualification programs for tracking domestic and international supplier performance. Jason is a Senior Member of ASQ who holds a Six Sigma Black Belt certification and has been serving in the role of Treasurer since the special election last fall.
 

John Flipse, Secretary

John joined ASQ in 2006 and has been an active volunteer ever since.  He has served with the Minnesota Quality Conference Planning Committee with focus on Arrangements and Exhibitors.  He has been involved with quality for over 18 years, having worked in Aerospace, Defense, and Software Consulting.  His current position is as Quality and Regulatory Manager at Sajan, a global language translation service provided located in River Falls Wisconsin.  He is a Senior Member and Certified Quality Auditor with focus on ISO 9001 & 13485.
 

Karen Maskell, Vice Chair, Marketing

Karen has been a member of ASQ for more than 15 years.  She is a Senior Member who has served is a wide variety of capacities for the Dallas Section, Software Division, HD&L Division as well as the Minnesota Section. Karen previously served the as Co-Chair of Programs and Voice of the Customer Chair before taking on the Vice Chair of Marketing role in 2011.  She majored in Marketing at the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota and is currently working as an independent management consultant.  She is passionate about quality, continuous improvement, and finding ways to delight customers.
 

Greg Olson, Vice Chair Member Development

Greg has been an ASQ Member since 1990 and has held several leadership positions for the Section, most recently as Chair and as Treasurer. Greg worked at Medtronic for 32 years, and as part of Quality for 22 of those years. He served as a RAB Certified QMS Lead Auditor for the last 12 years. Greg is now retired.
 
 
 
 

Annette Borrelli, Senior Director
 
Annette has held several leadership positions in the Section since she first became involved in Member Services and Administration in 2002.  She pioneered many technical improvements for Section operations including the first Section website, Quality Management Plan metrics, and electronic approvals for check requests.  She is currently a Quality Manager at 3M. Annette served last year the Senior Director.
 
 

Edward Andrews, Year One Director

Ed has been a ASQ member since 1989 and is currently a Senior Member.  He has been an active member of MNASQ since relocating to the Twin Cities in 2009.  He has served on the Program Committee since 2009 and has recently been serving as the Section Secretary. He has held Quality positions from Inspector up to Director of Quality, fifteen of those years in Quality Management in manufacturing industries. Currently in the Design Assurance Group at Greatbatch Medical, Ed's experience spans the medical device, automotive, gaming, appliance, office furniture and aerospace industries - to name a few.
 

Meena Chettiar, Year Two Director

Meena is an active senior member of ASQ Minnesota Section 1203. She has been a member since 2004.  She was co-chair of the MNASQ Education Committee (2008-2010), passionately pursuing and succeeding in increasing the number of ASQ certified professionals in MNASQ and has been instructing certification prep classes for CQIA, CQA and CMQ/OE offered by MNASQ since 2005. Meena has worked in QC Lab/QA management in food and pharmaceuticals for several years and is currently employed by Synovis Surgical innovations, a bio medical device company in St. Paul as the Senior Quality Analyst.  Meena is looking forward to continuing to raise the voice of quality as a Year Two Director on MNASQ's Executive Board to ensure continued value for our customers and increase the quality of our offerings.
 

Wayne Ellison, Past Chair

Wayne was elected Chair-Elect in 2010 and he is serving as this year's Section Chair.  After his term expires he will move into the role of Past Chair.  He had been was involved in the Minnesota Quality Conference for most of the last 25 years, serving as Chair of that conference in 2007-08 and as Vice Chair conferences in 2009-2010. Wayne was awarded the prestigious 3M Lewis W. Lehr Career Quality Achievement Award for 2007 and in 2008 received the first Richard S. Alberg Distinguished Science and Technology Professional Award from MFESTS (Minnesota Federation of Engineering, Science, and Technology Societies). Wayne's professional career was with 3M for 38 years, 28 of those in a Quality function, and he is now retired.
 

Ashweni Sahni, Mentor

Ash is an ASQ Fellow, a member of ASQ since 1981. He has worked on every committee in the Section at various times. Ash has been very active with the Biomedical Consortium as well. He was a Section Director for three years and served a co-chair of the Section host committee for the World Conference on Quality Improvement held in Minneapolis in May 2009. Ash is a CQE, CRE and CQA and is President of his own consulting company, ASH and Associates.
 
February Program Meeting
Tuesday, February 14, 2012
 
The monthly program meeting falls on Tuesday, February 14th.  What better way to celebrate than with our love for quality!
 
We have a fun evening planned (including a door prize to attend the Summit for free!) and two speakers lined up to speak about training options.  Dr. Bob Gee has over thirty years' hands-on experience developing quality systems for diverse applications. He has won awards and recognition for design and implementation of quality-based education programs. Elizabeth Miller is a Client Development Associate at Dale Carnegie Training in Minnesota. Currently responsible for public enrollment courses, Elizabeth also manages Dale Carnegie Minnesota's virtual voice and social media strategy.
