A Holiday Project for You Sent Tuesday, December 20, 2011 View as plaintext
Greetings, Nuts, from snowy and slightly warm Alaska--and welcome new subscribers!

How's that holiday stitching coming? I made three new stockings for my sister's growing family. Would you believe I found the pattern I made 12 - 15 years ago when I made the first five stockings in the set? It's true. I don't throw crafty things away. I even had some leftover strips of the original fabrics. Talk about a Christmas miracle!

I encourage you to stop worrying if you're behind on a project or two--I haven't started my holiday year-in-review letter. We have reasons to give gifts all year long, and a New Year's letter doesn't have to compete for attention the way a Christmas letter does, right? Take time to enjoy the season, family, and friends.

A Holiday Project for You

For those of you who have your gifts made, wrapped, and delivered; your cookies made; your cards and letters written and mailed; and your children, pets, and spouses washed, pressed, and dressed...ahem...or for anyone just nutty enough to take on yet another project, here's a fun stitchy free-for-all. No cross stitches here, and no rules for that matter. Chaotic stitching for a chaotic time of year. It can be a bookmark, an ornament, a gift tag, a broach, something else.

Gift Wrapping Help

Do you have an impossible-to-wrap gift? Maybe a new float plane or dog sled you're wondering how to wrap and fit under the tree? Well, look no further. I can help you wrap that John Deer tractor or IOU in a jiffy. Really. I propose you wrap it in a puzzle. (No needle or thread required.) Of course, I'll be glad to help! Be warned, though, the recipient may very well like the wrapping more than the present.

Last-Minute Gifts

Need a last-minute gift? Or do you know someone who's looking for a last-minute gift for you? It's time to start thinking "gift certificates." We have them in the Funk & Weber shop.

Printed charts and other physical products will not be shipped between December 20th and January 3rd, because, well, we won't be here to ship them, but digital patterns and gift certificates will still be available.

We wish you a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, a Merry Kwanza, a Happy Solstice, and a cheerful, peaceful rest of December and 2011. We look forward to a fun, productive, and super-creative 2012!

Cheers!

Jen

PS - For those of you who miss my Needlework Musings (I've missed them, too), here's one on the relevance of stitching bookmarks during this age of digital readers and e-books. I'll do better in 2012.
