Nutsletter: I Heart You Earrings are Here! Sent Thursday, February 2, 2012 View as plaintext

Happy Groundhog Day, Nuts!

I heart groundhogs. Actually, I heart everything just now. I'm oh-so-excited to report that the I Heart You Earrings e-pattern (pdf) is now available in the Funk & Weber Shop. But there's more!

You know my projects have a tendency to...er...creep or even explode? I made more than twenty bracelets while developing and writing my EmbroiderMe! Bracelet instructions. (Don't ask me how many I've made since then.) Well, the I Heart You Earrings project exploded, too.

The original project used Rainbow Gallery Neon Rays and Treasure Braid fibers. Then I got Kreinik's holographic ribbon, and---oh, my!---I had to use them for heart earrings, too. And then, well, I thought those earrings would look cool with a companion bracelet. We can have them be straight or tilted. We could add beads...to both the earrings and the bracelets. Oooo, how about a necklace?!

I took pictures. I'll do a Story Behind the Stitchery post on the blog soon.

Of course, I wanted to share it all in the pattern, but then it dawned on me that some of what I was doing isn't standard embroidery fare: I was using eyepins, jump rings, and even crimp beads. I know some of you already work with jewelry findings; you can look at the pictures, read descriptions and go. For others, however, these materials and techniques might be new. And so, Findings for Embroiderers is also here!

Whew!

But it gets better.

While the pattern and e-book are available individually (so experienced jewelry makers don't have to purchase info they don't need), I also combined the two files to create a Special Combo.  Yeah, that's a lame name. Give me a better one, and I'll use it.

This Special Combo is on super-sale from now through Valentine's Day. In fact, it's cheaper to buy the pair than it is to buy either of the individual pieces.

Why? Because it's Valentine's Month, and I heart you, and I heart this project, and it's just a Nutty thing to do!

But it gets better still. (You're waiting for the Ginsu knife pitch now, aren't you?)

You know how I sometimes ask you to not share links I give you here? Well, I invite and encourage you to share this link to the Special Combo: I Heart You Earrings AND Findings for Embroiderers e-book. Go ahead and post it on your blog, on Facebook and Twitter, and to all the stitching groups you belong to. This super-special sale is for everyone because Valentine's Month is all about sharing the love.

Now here's something you don't need to share: Want to know why I selected $4.00 as the super-sale price?  For some inexplicable reason, the old "2 Good + 2 Be = 4 Gotten" math-problem image has come to represent Valentine's Day for me. Maybe I got a valentine that said that once? Anyhoo, the image of "Learn 2 use findings + 2 earrings = 4 dollars" kept going through my mind as I worked on the earring and findings texts.

I don't believe in signs, but I do believe in good, Nutty fun and whims. (I'm in Alaska today because of a whim, but that's another story.) I'm going with it!

In a Nutshell

We have three new items for sale in the Funk & Weber Shop:

  • Findings for Embroiderers e-book - $6.00
  • Special Combo: I Heart You Earrings AND Findings for Embroiderers e-book - $4.00 (will go up to $10.00 on February 15)
I'm guessing this is the link you want.
