Needlework Nutshell - Quick I-Heart-You Reminder Sent Tuesday, February 14, 2012 View as plaintext

Happy Valentine's Day, Nuts!

Greetings from Columbus, Ohio. I have a jam-packed schedule of slide shows and conference presentations for the next two weeks. Big fun and busy-busy.

Craft Biz Buzz

Our last survey asked how many of us are in, or want to be in, the craft biz. The answer: More than eighty percent of respondents. That's huge! We can definitely address some of your questions here. If I can't answer them, I probably know someone who can. Would you believe I've been doing this for over eleven years now? If I knew then what I know now...yeesh!

The first thing we'll tackle is image-editing: How to alter digital pictures to best show our work on websites, blogs, and social media sites. It's difficult to convey the beauty of embroidery in pictures, but if we're selling on Etsy or anywhere on the Web, we need to put our Best Photo Forward.  It's an absolute must. I'm still using some very old images, and, honestly, it's a little embarrassing.

The reason we're addressing this first is because I know someone who teaches image editing for digital scrapbookers. See? I told you that if I can't answer a question, I probably know someone who can. It's going to be a whole new format (webinar) and topic, and I'm super excited! I'll have more info soon. We'll schedule the event in March.

I-Heart-You Reminder

I also want to remind you that today is the last day for the super-special sale price for the I-Heart-You Earrings e-pattern and the Findings for Embroiderers e-book combo. You can get them both today for just $4.00. Tomorrow, the combo price goes up.

I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day. I'll be spending mine with kids in a very poor school, joining my writing partner and friend for a free author visit to a school that has never had an author visit. In the afternoon, I'll show slides at a retirement community, and come evening, I'll treat myself to some quiet stitching time.

I have tons more to tell you, but this is all for now. Be well, Nuts!
