Why I love the Nurse Entrepreneur MasterMind Group
As I think about the coming week, I'm excited because it is the third Wednesday of month which means the Nurse Entrepreneur MasterMind Group is this week. This is a telephone conference call that members of the Nurse Entrepreneur Network can join. There is a link for members to join in the left column on the website. During this telephone conference call those of us on the call brain storm current challenges for the other members on the call.
I am always surprised and delighted by how many ideas are generated during these calls. Having a group of nurses brain storm with each other allows for piggy backing of ideas and results in incredibly creative and brilliant ideas. Nurse Entrepreneurs are some of the most dynamic people I know and it comes out during these calls!
The level of enthusiasm on these calls is absolutely amazing. I think the sheer volume of ideas generated is an inspiration to the nurse entrepreneurs on the call. Everyone goes away excited, including me. I have such a sense of awe about the wisdom and inspiration of the members when I complete these calls.
Some members on these calls have even found a like-minded nurse entrepreneur with whom they can collaborate. I love it when two or more members decide they want to connect outside of these calls and create something together. It is so exciting to know that these nurses connected in a way that can benefit all of them.
If you're feeling stuck with your nurse entrepreneur idea or business consider becoming a member of the Nurse Entrepreneur Network and joining the MasterMInd group. This could be just the emotional and inspirational boost you need to take that next step with your business.
Do you want to be part of a Nurse Entrepreneur Network MasterMind group but day time hours do not work for you? Let me know. If there is enough interest I could conduct a group in the evenings again.
If you've been on these Master Mind calls in the past I would love to hear what you thought of the experience. I'm sure this would also be helpful for other nurses who have been thinking about joining these calls. Were you unsure what to expect at first? Did you get ideas you could implement right away? Did you feel a renewed sense of enthusiasm when you got off the call? Tell us about your experience.
I'm looking forward to hearing many of your voices, and some new voices, on the call on Wednesday!

That's it for this week! Spread the word by forwarding these tips to your friends and to other nursepreneurs. They'll be glad you did!

5 Content Marketing Tips to Build your Nurse Entrepreneur Business
No matter what business you are in your business can benefit from content marketing. This is true whether you sell products or services. It also applies if your business is a B2B, B2C, Not-For Profit, or Nonprofit. People are tired of traditional advertising. That is why content marketing is now the preferred method of selling.
I wrote an article on Content Marketing that is posted on the Nurse Entrepreneur Network website and it is free even for non-members this week (in recognition of National Nurses Week). To supplement that article I am going to share some content marketing tips below.

Enhance your content marketing by including testimonials and customer reviews. The general public finds content in the form of informative emails, websites, and information posted on social media sites to have credibility. This increases their trust in the writer and the company. You can increase that trust even more by including comments from customers.
Have a call to action. Let the reader know what action you would like them to take when they finish reading your article.
Build a list. Have a way for your prospects and customers to receive valuable information from you on a regular basis.
Use stories and case studies whenever possible. Your audience will remember stories much longer than they will remember pure facts. Make it interesting.
Be seasonal. Take advantage of specific holidays, seasons, or other headlines that can be used in your content.
Next actions:

Share these tips with your friends.
Read the article on the Nurse Entrepreneur Network titled Hate Selling? Try Content Marketing.
If you like this information become a member of the Nurse Entrepreneur Network and receive EVEN MORE valuable information on being a nurse entrepreneur!
That's it for this week! Spread the word by forwarding these tips to your friends and to other nursepreneurs. They'll be glad you did!

Don't Limit Yourself to Google Searches
If you are like most nurse entrepreneurs you are likely using Google when you are doing your searches. It is also critically important to pay attention to your page ranking in Google.
Today I am going to talk about other search engines you can and should be using. You do not need to rely solely on Google for your search results. Even though Google has almost become synonymous with searching on the internet there are other search engines. By using different search engines you will see that you will get different results.
A few additional search engines are www.yahoo.com, www.bing.com, and www.ask.com. There are also metasearch engines that search multiple search engines all at one time and give you the results from these multiple search engines. Several metasearch engines are www.dogpile.com, www.excite.com, and www.metacrawler.com.

Another category of search engines are those that are topic specific such as www.business.com, www.googlescholar.com, www.healthline.com and www.webMD.com
Use a variety of search engines if you want to increase the number of results you get when you do a search on the internet.

Don't Know Where to Start to Launch Your Nurse Entrepreneur Business?
Many nurses feel overwhelmed when they think about starting a business. There are so many tasks that need to be done that it can be hard to determine which one to do first. This sense of overwhelm can even keep some nurses from going ahead with starting their own business.
I was thinking about this today as I was working on our yard. We have so many tasks that need to be done to get our house ready to be put on the market. We have many tasks to do inside and outside. It occurred to me as I was pondering where to begin that it didn't so much matter where I began as long as I did something. We began by cutting up two large stacks of branches we had piled up in our front yard. Next we loaded these smaller chunks of branches onto a trailer so we can take them to a recycling center. At the end of five hours we had completed this task and I felt a great sense of accomplishment.
Starting a nurse entrepreneur business is similar to this experience. There are many tasks that need to be completed to get started. One of the most essential things to remember is that it isn't so important what you do first as long as you do something.
Make a list of all the things you can think of that need to be done so you can start your business. Then try to determine a logical order in which to accomplish these tasks. Start at the top of your list and begin chipping away at it. As you work through your list you will invariably think of more tasks that need to be completed. Simply add these to your list and determine where they fit in your order of tasks. The important thing is to do something every day on your list of tasks. If you select the best action you think you can take every day and do it you will be surprised with your progress toward your eventual goal of starting your nurse entrepreneur business.
That's it for this week! Spread the word by forwarding these tips to your friends and to other nursepreneurs. They'll be glad you did!

How Many Years of Clinical Experience Do You Need Before Starting Your Own Nurse Entrepreneur Business?
Have you ever wondered how many years of clinical nursing experience you need before starting your own nurse entrepreneur business?

None
2 - 10 years
11 - 20 years
20 - 35 years

None is not the best answer. Most nurses need a few years working in the hospital after completing their nursing education. Otherwise they are working with theoretical knowledge but very little practical knowledge.
2 - 10 years is a good answer. I consider this to be the basic amount of hands on nursing a nurse should have before she considers going out on her own. With 2 - 5 years of experience a young nurse will have experienced a number of situations where she will have had to apply her nursing knowledge in real life situations. These situations often don't present and get resolved the way the book indicated. Therefore having had to apply and adapt knowledge provides a young nurse with the skills and expertise to apply nursing knowledge is a variety of real world situations.
11 - 20 years is an excellent answer. For the nurse that can wait a little while longer a few more years of practical experience will help to broaden the nurse's ability even further. With this amount of experience he will have a wider view of assessments, problems, situations, and applications. He will be able to identify more clinical gaps that would be ideal for a nurse entrepreneur to fill. Likelihood of success is extremely high if a nurse has 11 - 20 years experience and a well thought out, well planned business idea.
20 - 35 years is more than the necessary number of years of clinical experience a nurse would need to be able to start her own business. However, there is nothing wrong with having this much experience. This is approximately the number of years of experience a nurse might have when she is thinking about being a nurse entrepreneur as her second career, or as a retirement plan. Many nurses want to remain involved but find they cannot handle the physically demands of clinical nursing. For these nurses, nurse entrepreneurship provides them the opportunity to continue to be involved in nursing, continue to earn an income, and determine the number of hours they want to work as they get older.
In conclusion, I think it is important for a nurse who is considering being a nurse entrepreneur to have a minimum of 2 - 5 years of clinical experience. Additional years of clinical experience are a plus but are not necessary. What is necessary when it comes to clinical experience is to have enough experience to be able to apply theoretical knowledge to real patient situations.

Selling Your Nurse Entrepreneur Products or Services: The Universal Laws of the 3 Qs
Universal laws are principles you must follow if you want to be successful. They are proven principles that are not trends. Ignoring them will lead to failure; heeding them will lead to success.

The Law of Qualifying: Not everyone is a potential candidate for your services. Identify your ideal target market. When you meet someone in your target market qualify them to determine if they are actually a good candidate for your products or services. If not, move on. Spend your time with people who are likely to purchase your services and stop wasting your time with those who aren't ever likely to buy what you have to sell.
The Law of Quality: Share great content with those you determine to be good potential candidates for your products of services. Once you have qualified a potential customer and know they are an ideal candidate for your services give them great content. Don't hold back. Convince them you are the answer to their problem by showing them what they could be missing out on by not buying from you.
The Law of Quantity: Remember that you need to be in touch with a good potential customer at least 7 or more times (in the current economy this number could be even higher) before they are likely to buy from you. Develop a list of the many ways you can be in contact with your potential customer and use that list when you are thinking you don't know what to do next. Some examples would be telephone, in person, email, snail mail, newsletter, follow up hand written note, or a combination of these.

Nurse Entrepreneurs: Are You Hammering Home Your Message?
In the United States this idiom "Hammer Home" means to try very hard to get people to understand your message. However, when I hear this phrase it brings to mind an Abraham Maslow quote: "If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail." The point he was making was that there are people who without a complete understanding of someones situation, or problems, solutions which have previously been tried, and any other pertinent data will think they have the perfect solution to the problem. They are likely to propose the same solution to multiple potential customers' problems.
As a nurse entrepreneur you need to be careful that you see each customer as distinct with a unique set of circumstances and problems. Listen to your potential customer by asking probing questions to assure that you fully understand their situation and can propose the best solution.
Some possible questions to ask would be:

What do you see that you will be doing differently this year as compared to last year?
If you are using someone else for these services, what one thing would you change if you could?
What can we do to help you achieve your business goals this year?
How could we make your job easier?

It might seem obvious but to be able to offer more than just a hammer you must have other tools in your tool box. This means that in order to be able to offer more than one solution you need to have more than one solution available.
Look at these customer conversations as fun and a great way to demonstrate your flexibility and creativity. You may even surprise yourself with solutions you are able to create.

That's it for this week! Spread the word by forwarding these tips to your friends and to other nursepreneurs. They'll be glad you did!

What's best for the home based Nurse Entrepreneur, an ink jet or laser printer?
In most cases a laser printer will be better for the home based Nurse Entrepreneur. However, this is not always the case.
Laser printers are generally faster and less expensive in the long run. Printed sheets from a laser jet can be highlighted without worrying about the smear. Laser printers excel at printing text.
One significant downside is that laser printers tend to be bulkier and heavier than inkjet printers. This means you need to think about your use of space and if you will need to move your printer around.
Low cost ink jets do not fare well in the long run. However, ink jet printers do excel at printing photos. If your business requires you to print photos on a regular basis you probably should consider an ink jet printer.
You are more likely to have cartridge-error messages when there is absolutely nothing wrong with the cartridges with an ink jet printer. It is also more difficult to use ink sparing printing options such as "draft quality."
With both ink jet and laser printers they will likely cost more than you realize over the life of the machine. A general rule of thumb is the less expensive the printer, the more costly the ink cartridges. The cost of the associated consumables will likely far exceed the initial cost of the printer.
One way to lower your costs is to purchase lower cost replacement remanufactured toner cartridges, but be cautious of the very cheap replacement cartridges. Use a higher end replacement/remanufactured supplier to get good quality printing and to prevent damage to your machine.
In summary, for most home based nurse entrepreneurs a laser printer will be the better choice, unless your business prints photos on a regular basis. You can save on printing costs with an ink jet or laser printer by purchasing replacement or remanufactured ink and toner cartridges.

That's it for this week! Spread the word by forwarding these tips to your friends and to other nursepreneurs. They'll be glad you did!

Getting Your Nurse Entrepreneur Prospects To Buy
While many nurses have excellent clinical skills they do not always understand the sales process. Some nurse entrepreneurs might even be looking for a golden nugget that will make the sales process a quick and simple action that will get prospects to buy every time.
While it isn't quick and easy there is a sales process that isn't difficult. I will share with you 3 parts of the sales process that will dramatically improve the chances of your prospects buying from you:

Don't confuse them - Don't give your prospects too many choices. It's tempting to have a brochure that lists everything you could possibly do for a potential client. However, a long menu of services can easy confuse your prospect. One of the common sayings in sales is: "A confused mind always says 'No'!" If they are confused when they are asked to make a buying decision they will say "No" and stay with their current situation.
Call to action - Tell them what it is that you want them to do. Tell them what action they should take to benefit from what you have to offer.
Create a sense of urgency - Let them know why now is the best time to buy. If they delay making the decision it will diminish the chances they will make the decision to buy. So help them understand why they need to take action immediately.
Use these steps in improve your sales success.

That's it for this week! Spread the word by forwarding these tips to your friends and to other nursepreneurs. They'll be glad you did!
