Nurse Entrepreneur Network Tip - 9/23/2009
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This week's tip:
'Do you have difficulty getting to the decision maker?'
Getting to the decision maker is a challenges faced by many members
of the Nurse Entrepreneur Network. This is often more difficult
than most nurse entrepreneur business owners imagined. Many
decision makers will have a gatekeeper and getting past this
gatekeeper is one of your first challenges in your sales process.
There are a number of ways to overcome this challenge.
Being direct and straight forward is one approach to dealing with
the gatekeeper. Gatekeepers are often direct in their dealing with
others so this approach can be effective in communicating with
them. When you call consider saying "Please tell Mr. Smith that
Jane Doe from Doe Medical Legal in on the phone." This approach
may result in the gatekeeper asking fewer screening questions.
Another approach would be to go around the gatekeeper. Attend
networking and social events that the decision maker is likely to
attend. Do not overlook industry conferences and training sessions
when looking to connect directly with the decision maker instead
of having to go through the gatekeeper. This will also help you
pass beyond the gatekeeper in the future because when you call and
the gatekeeper asks for more information you can say "I met Mr.
Smith at the legal obstetrics conference and I am following up
with him concerning a discussion we had."
These are a few ideas that will help you get to the decision
maker. There are other ways to get past the gate keeper and in
touch with the decision maker. For more information read the
article on the Nurse Entrepreneur Network titled "Getting Past
the Gatekeeper." Here's the link:
