Widespread agreement on the causes of
online failure
I went to the "London Lunch" last Friday.
This is a regular meetup in London between internet marketers. We have a
lunch and then chat and network till late in the evening.
I hadn't been for many months, and met a
whole new bunch of great people.
On several occasions the topic of the
conversation turned to what the barriers are to people succeeding
online. Almost without exception, the BIGGEST obstacles mentioned were:
* "too many distractions"
* "lack of focus"
* "no planning"
The way I see it is there are two
fundamental problems.
FIRST is that people allow their
agendas to be STOLEN by marketers. The core reason for that is a lack of
discipline in managing your inbox - although there are other reasons.
SECOND is that too many people are
simply not used to the idea of planning: for the short term, medium term
or long term. The emphasis is always on DOING (and quickly). Whereas
successful internet marketing requires PLANNING first, and then DOING.
Of course, I took the opportunity to
mention my mentoring program, and there was very general agreement that
this was EXACTLY what was needed. (And one insistent voice that I should
be charging double. Honestly.)

seven figure incomes - well, they are aiming too low.
That's just loose change.
