A Tribute to my
Wife
This devotional is going to be a little different than most. My wife Cheryl left for Charlotte, NC last Thursday and will be gone for a whole week. She is caring for our youngest son's two teenage boys and their two dogs while my son and his wife have gone to care for a close friend going through cancer treatments.
We are happy to help out in a situation like this, but I don't do good alone. We have been married for 48 years this year and Cheryl is my best friend, my constant companion, my helper, the love of my life, and my bass fishing partner. I do not sleep well when she is not beside me. She is everything I am not, and then some. I hate to think where I would have
ended up if we had not met and married. I know that whatever favor comes my way is mainly due to this Godly woman.
We all like to think we can stand alone, but we can't. We are not made to stand alone. The scripture states that man is not independent of woman and woman is not independent of man (I
Corinthians 11:11, NASB). We need each other. Cheryl is the gas and I am the brake. She is the counselor and I am the teacher. I am the saver and she is the spender. We're opposites, but together we are one flesh. We complete each other rather than compete with each other. It's only taken us 48 years to learn that. It shouldn't take you that long since we are sharing the secret with you now.
Husbands, love your wife. Wives, honor your husband. If you would just do those two things a lot of marital problems could be avoided.
I love you Cheryl! More than yesterday, less than tomorrow!
Please come home quickly!
