The inspector general for the Justice Department has condemned fired FBI Director James Comey's leaking of sensitive information in violation of the law and FBI policy "in order to achieve a personally desired outcome."
The IG report addressed memos Comey created of his meetings with President Trump that he gave to a friend to leak to the New York Times. His stated goal was to provoke the appointment of a special counsel to investigate the president.
Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., called Comey's action's "sleazy" and charged he cheapened the FBI.
Comey kept some of the memos in his home even after his firing by Trump. He did not tell the FBI he had copies and he did not get permission to distribute them.
"The responsibility to protect sensitive law enforcement information falls in large part to the employees of the FBI who have access to it through their daily duties," the report by IG Michael Horowitz concluded.
"On occasion, some of the employees may disagree with decisions by prosecutors, judges, or higher ranking FBI and Department officials about the actions to take or not take in criminal and counterintelligence matters. They may even, in some situations, distrust the legitimacy of those supervisory, prosecutorial, or judicial decisions. But even when these employees believe that their most
strongly held personal convictions might be served by an unauthorized disclosure, the FBI depends on them not to disclose sensitive information."
The report said Comey "failed to live up to this responsibility."
"By not safeguarding sensitive information obtained during the course of his FBI employment, and by using it to create public pressure for official action, Comey set a dangerous example for the over 35,000 current FBI employees – and the many thousands more former FBI employees – who similarly have access to or knowledge of non-public information. Comey said he was compelled to take these
actions 'if I love this country … and I love the Department of Justice, and I love the FBI.' However, were current or former FBI employees to follow the former director's example and disclose sensitive information in service of their own strongly held personal convictions, the FBI would be unable to dispatch its law enforcement duties properly, as Comey himself noted.
"We have previously faulted Comey for acting unilaterally and inconsistent with department policy. Comey's unauthorized disclosure of sensitive law enforcement information about the Flynn investigation merits similar criticism. In a country built on the rule of law, it is of utmost importance that all FBI employees adhere to department and FBI policies, particularly when confronted by what
appear to be extraordinary circumstances or compelling personal convictions. Comey had several other lawful options available to him to advocate for the appoint of a special counsel, which he told us was his goal in making the disclosure. What was not permitted was the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive investigative information, obtained during the course of FBI employment, in order to achieve a personally desired outcome."
In a response Thursday on Twitter, Comey discounted the the IG's conclusions.
"DOJ IG 'found no evidence that Comey or his attorneys released any of the classified information contained in any of the memos to members of the media.' I don’t need a public apology from those who defamed me, but a quick message with a 'sorry we lied about you' would be nice," Comey wrote.
"And to all those who’ve spent two years talking about me 'going to jail' or being a 'liar and a leaker' – ask yourselves why you still trust people who gave you bad info for so long, including the president," he said.
Horowitz had referred Comey to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution, but the agency declined.
The Hill described the Horowitz report as "scathing" in its determination that Comey violated FBI policies as well as his employment agreement.
The report concluded Comey's "retention, handling, and dissemination of certain Memos violated Department and FBI policies, and his FBI Employment Agreement."
Much of the information Comey mishandled "was directly tied to FBI investigative activities."
The report said, "While Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz declined to make a recommendation as to whether or not to charge the former FBI chief, he said Comey broke FBI policies by seeking to share unauthorized information about ongoing investigations with a friend who then gave it to The New York Times two months after his removal."
The report confirmed Comey "violated FBI policy and the requirements of his FBI employement agreement ... by disclosing the contents of Memo 4, through Richman, to The New York Times, Comey made public sensitive investigative information related to an ongoing FBI investigation, information he had properly declined to disclose while still FBI director."
The report confirmed Comey is a "leaker," stating, "By his own admission, Comey disclosed the contents of Memo 4 in an attempt to force the department to take official investigative actions – to appoint a special counsel."
The IG is working on another report on how the FBI and and other agencies under President Obama obtained Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court permission to spy on the Trump campaign in 2016.

James Comey is proof the ‘deep state’ is something to fear

James Comey
For nearly three years now, those who promise to save us from the wicked clutches of President Donald Trump have bombarded America with lectures about the “rule of law.” Yet, over and over again, these self-styled champions of justice feel free to disregard the law whenever it suits them. The latest example is former FBI Director James Comey.
A new report by the Office of the Inspector General for the Justice Department found that Comey had written FBI memos, illicitly passed them on to a lawyer friend, who in turn leaked them to a friendly New York Times reporter who had been spreading the Russian conspiracy theory.
Why? Because Comey was interested in extracting revenge on the man who had fired him, Donald Trump.
Comey, the report found, had leaked “investigative information, obtained during the course of FBI employment, in order to achieve a personally desired outcome.”
That outcome, as Comey had admitted to Congress, was to “prompt the appointment of a special counsel” to investigate the president’s alleged conspiracy with the Russian government to win the 2016 election. By doing this, the DOJ inspector general, who is widely considered both meticulous and unbiased, found that Comey had “set a dangerous example” and “releas[ed] sensitive information” to
“create public pressure for official action.”
It worked. And by manufacturing an investigation into the president — one that he didn’t have enough evidence to pursue in an official capacity — Comey had not only abused his power but plunged the nation into two years of hysterics about Russian interference.

In the end, Comey’s good friend Robert Mueller, despite his best efforts, couldn’t ferret out a single instance of criminal conspiracy.
If you want to know why so many Americans believe there’s a “deep state” working against their interests, look no further than men like Comey. We have growing evidence that senior officials in the FBI and CIA acted as partisan opponents of the duly elected president, abetting and inciting partisan investigations.
Americans will continue to lose trust in institutions, if leaders keep misappropriating power for political purposes. Comey claimed he leaked his memos because they were of “incredible importance to the Nation, as a whole,” which is what everyone who has ever pursued arbitrary and capricious power says to rationalize their abuse.

New York Times caves again to left-wing outrage
Fixes 'failure' to cast tea party as racist
By Art Moore
Published August 29, 2019 at 3:49pm
https://www.wnd.com/2019/08/new-york-times-caves-left-wing-outrage/
The New York Times once again has altered a published story in response to complaints from the left on Twitter.
Earlier this month, it was a headline favorable to President Trump that sparked outrage from readers. Now, it's a Times 10-year retrospective of the tea party that failed, in the eyes of many, to cast the movement as racist.
Once again, the editors scrambled to assuage the offended.
"We have updated this story assessing the policy failures of the Tea Party movement 10 years after its rise to include context about attacks on President Barack Obama and racist displays at some Tea Party rallies," the Times said on its Twitter account.
Among the critics of the original version of the story was ABC's Matthew Dowd, who wrote: "A fundamental flaw in this analysis is there is no mention of race and how much racism drove the Tea Party movement. You can't talk about the rage politics and leave out race."
Washington Post reporter Wesley Lowery called the original version journalistic "malpractice." He complained there was no mention of "the fact that it was essentially a hysterical grassroots tantrum about the fact that a black guy was president."
But there's no evidence that racism propelled the tea party movement, contended The Federalist senior editor David Harsanyi.
"The wealthy white leader of Congress at the time was just as unpopular among Tea Partiers as the black president," he argued, referring to Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. "And, as we've seen, if Hillary Clinton had won the 2008 election, she would have generated no less anger among conservatives."
Harsanyi wrote it was Obama's "leftist rhetoric and unprecedented unilateralism — he had, after all, promised 'fundamental change' — that ignited what amounts to a renewed Reaganism; a fusing of idealistic constitutionalism and economic libertarianism."
Every Democratic presidential candidate as well as the elite media insist America is an irredeemably racist nation. However, as the latest issue of WND's acclaimed monthly Whistleblower magazine proves, America is BY FAR the most diverse, multi-ethnic, open, free and opportunity-laden society in history, and thus is, as the headline proclaims, "THE LEAST RACIST NATION ON
EARTH."
In a Fox News segment Thursday, Democratic political analyst Mary Anne Marsh agreed that the tea party movement was driven by opposition to deficits and bailouts "and not race," pointing to the Obama administration's stimulus bill and Obamacare.
Earlier this month, the Times drew outrage with a headline about Trump's denunciation of white supremacy and racism after the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton that read "Trump Urges Unity vs. Racism." The editors changed it to "Assailing Hate but Not Guns."
Later, Times Executive Editor Dean Baquet apologized, calling the original a "bad headline."

O'Rourke ejected 'racist' Breit**** reporter married to black
Campaign backtracks after claiming it was protecting African-Americans
By WND Staff

https://www.wnd.com/2019/08/orourke-ejected-racist-breit****-reporter-married-to-black/
The Beto O'Rourke campaign claimed Wednesday it ejected Breit**** News senior editor-at-large Joel Pollak from a speech at the historically black Benedict College to protect black students.
Pollak, however, as Breit**** pointed out, is Jewish and married to a black woman who who serves in the U.S. military.
O'Rourke's press secretary, Aleigha Cavalier, explained in a statement that while the candidate "believes in the right to a free press," Breit**** News "walks the line between being news and a perpetrator of hate speech."
"Given this particular Breit**** employee's previous hateful reporting and the sensitivity of the topics being discussed with students at an HBCU (event), a campaign staffer made the call to ask him to leave to ensure that the students attending the event felt comfortable and safe while sharing their experiences as young people of color," Cavalier said.
A Breit**** spokesman responded.
"The false accusation that Breit**** is racist, or that its award-winning reporter — an Orthodox Jew, married to a black woman who serves in the military — is either racist or would make anyone at a black university uncomfortable is absurd," the statement said.
"The irony of Mr. O'Rourke — who has stated himself that he is the beneficiary of 'white privilege' — purporting to decide for black students who should be banned from events that are open to the press, or what they should feel, is not lost on us."
CNN reported late Wednesday that after strong criticism, the O'Rourke campaign said it will not remove Breit**** News reporters from future events.
Pollak recounted Tuesday a campus police officer escorted him out of the room where O'Rourke was scheduled to speak.

The Roots of Twitter’s Shadowbanning Operation
An unreal story of Twitter censorship.
2 days ago Peter M. D'Abrosca
https://lauraloomer.us/2019/08/27/exclusive-the-roots-of-twitters-shadowbanning-operation/#.XWg0kOhKiM9
“It’s been exhausting, frankly,” Kathy Shell-Amidon told me. “I’m mad as hell.”
Amidon is a conservative activist. She worked alongside David Rosler, who for a time used the pseudonym Proe Graphique because he worked in the film industry, and created the Tea Party Fire Ants in 2013 to whip up online support for conservative causes. Amidon describes Rosler as a “brilliant strategist.” Now, they’re seeking funding for what Amidon describes as a new genre of exciting 3D
Christian movies geared towards Millennials. She has been his associate producer since 2016, but has recently helped organize a series of pro-Trump music rallies, which will soon debut.
Naturally, Amidon has attempted to use social media to bolster her projects. Initially it worked – until Twitter became wise to she and Rosler’s activism, all the way back in 2013.
“Once we found Twitter in 2013, David figured out immediately how to use it as an activist platform,” Amidon said.
That same year, their group of grassroots volunteers in the Fire Ants first used the platform to help then-Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) garner support for House Resolution 36 to form the House Select Committee on Benghazi, which would eventually investigate the Benghazi attack. When they began their efforts, Wolf had 33 cosponsors to open the committee. He needed more than
150.
So, the Fire Ants went to work on Twitter, coordinating tweet campaigns wherein they tweeted to Republican House Representatives en masse, encouraging them to join the committee. There were seven or eight of them in the group using Twitter to communicate with the elected officials. Eventually, Wolf would give the group credit for the committee’s launch. They became friendly with the House
Reps, and worked for hours each contacting them.
Amidon said their crusade caused the group to be “bombarded by trolls and defamed all over the internet.” One of the trolls, Amidon said, even worked for Twitter. She said she has been doxxed, which led to death threats. But none of that stopped the efficacy of their campaign – and apparently the Twitter brass took notice.
Two years later, in early 2015, the Fire Ants used the same tactics amass support for a bill that would have defined the term “high crimes and misdemeanors,” which was an attempt by Republican lawmakers to quantify what they believed were impeachable offenses of the Obama administration.
But this time, instead of just being attacked by leftist trolls, they noticed a significant drop in the efficacy of their tactics. All of a sudden, according to Amidon, their Tweets weren’t reaching the House Reps.
“Nobody could see us,” Amidon said. “And that was right before they coined the term ‘shadowbanning.'”
Amidon said they called several of the House Reps, many of whom were familiar with their online activism. They spoke to the communications directors of the elected officials, who confirmed that the tweets from the Fire Ants never made it into the notifications of the Reps’ accounts. Amidon said when they searched for the tweets on the feeds of the Fire Ants who had sent them, though, they
were readily apparent.
This appears to be the origin of the tactic commonly called “shadowbanning.” Naturally, Amidon said, they were brushed off as conspiracists.
“Talking about Twitter censorship? You’re a conspiracy theorist,” she said. “We said, ‘no, you’re next.'”
And she appears to have been correct. Complaints of shadowbanning and other forms of censorship on Twitter, and among the other tech giants, have only become more prominent.
Amidon accused Twitter of “interfering criminally with Republicans trying to contact their elected officials.”
The extent of the damage goes well beyond internet activism, too. The leftist mob that was unleashed on Amidon, Rosler, and the Fire Ants has affected their personal lives significantly. They’ve tried unsuccessfully to identify those who have targeted them, though they have some idea of who they believe is coordinating the attacks.
“We’ve been after these people for six years,” Amidon said. “They’ve blocked our ability to crowdfund. They ruined my life. They’ve ruined David’s career. They’ve ruined us financially. They’ve done stuff to us in real life, too. They hacked my email account.”
Still, the group persists.
Four of the original Fire Ants are now fighting on behalf of Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ)’s “Stop the Censorship Act,” which, as the name suggests, is an attempt to stop Big Tech from de-platforming conservatives online. Amidon said the Fire Ants are facing the same problems today that they faced in 2015 and 2013.
According to Amidon, the censorship has become even more sophisticated, stopping the group from sending tweets altogether. A video posted to YouTube appears to show Twitter blocking the account of one of Amidon’s team members from tweeting at Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC).

All Top Dems Beat Trump As Voters' Economic Outlook Dims Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Dem Primary Stays Stable With Biden Holding The Lead Quinnipiac University Polling Logo
August 28, 2019 –
https://poll.qu.edu/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=3638
If the 2020 presidential election were held today, 54 percent of registered voters say that they would vote for former Vice President Joe Biden, while only 38 percent would vote for President Trump. Matchups against other top Democrats show:
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders topping Trump 53 - 39 percent;
Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren ahead of Trump 52 - 40 percent;
California Sen. Kamala Harris beating Trump 51 - 40 percent;
South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg leading with 49 percent to Trump's 40 percent.
Looking at all of the matchups, President Trump is stuck between 38 and 40 percent of the vote. These low numbers may partly be explained by a lack of support among white women, a key voting bloc that voted for Trump in the 2016 election. Today, white women go for the Democratic candidate by double digits in every scenario. Though it is a long 14 months until Election Day, Trump's
vulnerability among this important voting group does not bode well for him.
"In hypothetical matchups between President Trump and the top five Democratic presidential candidates, one key number is 40," said Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Mary Snow. "It's the ceiling of support for Trump, no matter the candidate. It hovers close to his job approval rating, which has stayed in a tight range since being elected."
Voters say 56 - 38 percent that they disapprove of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as president, compared to the 54 - 40 percent disapproval he received a month ago.

Feds: School forced nurse to help with abortion against her will

The federal government has issued a notice to the University of Vermont Medical Center that it must stop forcing nurses to participate in abortions in violation of their religious beliefs or lose federal funding.
The center forced a nurse to participate in an abortion even after she had registered her conscience-based objections.
The Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights announced "after a thorough investigation and prolonged attempts to resolve the matter" it found the center violated the 1973 Church Amendments, named for the late Idaho Sen. Frank Church.
The law prohibits groups that receive federal money from discriminating against employees who refuse to perform or help in abortion because of their faith. But the enforcement has been left to HHS, and violations rarely are punished.
The investigation also found the center has "discriminatory policies that assign or require employees to assist abortion procedures even after they have recorded their religious or moral objections to assisting in the performance of such abortions."

WATCH: BBC reporter stunned as top US abortionist admits he’s a ‘baby’ killer
Abortion, Bbc, Leroy Carhart
https://www.lifesitenews.com/blogs/bbc-reporter-stunned-as-top-us-abortionist-admits-he-kills-babies
Wed Aug 14, 2019 - 12:29 pm EST
August 14, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – As the American abortion wars heat up on all sides — red
states passing laws protecting life at earlier and earlier stages and blue states passing laws permitting the destruction of pre-born children in the womb at later and later stages — abortion has become a critical election issue. President Donald Trump and an array of other Republicans are targeting late-term abortion and describing the gruesome procedure in increasingly frank terms (“ripping the baby out of the womb of the mother”), while the Democratic presidential contenders are attempting to
simultaneously support abortion until birth while declining to discuss what that means.
It is this ongoing battle that brought BBC reporter Hilary Andersson to the United States, and she crisscrossed America interviewing both pro-lifers and abortion activists for a July 22 thirty minute report titled America’s Abortion War. To her credit, Andersson was
obviously attempting to be as fair as possible—she confronted politicians on whether they would prevent abortion in the case of rape, but also interviewed a pro-life activist who had adopted a girl with multiple health issues who had been conceived in rape, giving these “exceptions” a human face.
But one exchange in the mini-doc was so revealing I’m genuinely surprised that it didn’t end up on the cutting room floor: A conversation between Andersson and late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart. Andersson visited him in his Maryland
abortion clinic (which, bizarrely, has a copy of the serenity prayer hanging on the wall), and asked him precisely what he thought constituted the “health of the mother” in regard to the abortions he provided. Carhart has been doing abortions for thirty years and now looks like an aging, corpulent Dorian Gray. He casually revealed just how easy-going he was about the justifications for late-term abortion, noting that there are all kinds of health to be concerned with, including financial and
social health. He refused to say how late he would perform abortions.
[ video embedded https://youtu.be/Sx2nhx98mfs ]
Carhart then stunned her into silence, stating dismissively: “To the fetus, it makes no difference if it's born or not born.” Andersson was visibly stunned, but Carhart was unapologetic: “The baby has no input in this as far as I’m
concerned.”
Andersson gave him a chance to backtrack: “It’s interesting you use the word baby, because most abortionists won’t use that—they’ll use the word fetus, because
they don’t want to acknowledge…”
But Carhart was clearly disinterested in attempting to sugar-coat his bloody work. “I think that it is a baby, and I use [the word] with patients,” he interrupted.
Andersson’s eyes were wide at this point. “And you don’t have a problem…with…killing a baby?” she asked, almost hesitantly.
Carhart was unequivocal: “I have no problem if it's in the mother’s uterus.”
In the next scene, Carhart is showing Andersson his abortion tools, drawers filled with large stainless steel forceps, big enough to extract large babies from the wombs of their mothers after he’s killed them with a lethal
injection.
“These are the forceps to grasp part of the fetus and to crush it and bring out,” he explained, with more than a trace of professional pride.
Earlier, Andersson had done an interview with Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant, who had dismissed her tough questions on banning abortion by highlighting the barbarism of the procedure, especially the head-crushing and the
dismembering. She hesitantly brought it up with Carhart, speaking as if she almost didn’t want to know the answer. If she wanted any comfort for her pro-choice convictions, however, the Maryland abortionist wasn’t going to be giving her any.
“You’ve got to remember that this baby has been dead for 48 hours,” he said with a grin. He shrugged. “It’s not like we’re crushing a living skull.”
And that was that. The BBC had sent a journalist to America to discover what the debate was all about, and LeRoy Carhart was willing to be up front about it: Babies being executed in the womb by lethal injection, their skulls getting
crushed, and then their tiny corpses being ripped from the womb of their mothers, piece by bloody piece. President Donald Trump may have a complicated relationship with hyperbole and accuracy, but on abortion, he’s absolutely right—and one of America’s most notorious abortionists confirms every word.

AFP/Apple announced new measures to limit who can listen to “conversations” with its Siri digital assistant used on the iPhone and its smart speakers
(AFP) Apple on Wednesday apologized for its digital assistant Siri sharing some of what it heard with quality control workers as it unveiled new rules for handling data from conversations.
Under the changes, Apple will allow its employees to review conversations only from customers who opt into the “Siri grading” program to improve the voice recognition technology. Apple will also delete by default any recordings used for the program.
“We realize we haven’t been fully living up to our high ideals, and for that we apologize,” Apple said in a post.

(AFP) Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, whose repeated health battles have sparked speculation about her retirement, has undergone another round of cancer treatment, the court announced Friday.
Ginsburg, 86, has completed a three-week course of outpatient radiation therapy in New York for a “localized malignant tumor” on her pancreas, court spokeswoman Kathleen Arberg said in a statement.
“The abnormality was first detected after a routine blood test in early July,” the statement said, adding the malignancy was confirmed on July 31.
Ginsburg “tolerated treatment well. She cancelled her annual summer visit to Santa Fe, but has otherwise maintained an active schedule,” the court said.
“The tumor was treated definitively and there is no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body,” it added. “No further treatment is needed at this time.”
Ginsburg — fondly known as “The Notorious RBG,” a riff on slain rapper The Notorious B.I.G. — has suffered through several bouts with cancer over the last 20 years.
She was treated for colon cancer in 1999, and a decade later, pancreatic cancer that was caught at an early stage.
In December 2018, she had two nodules removed from her lung.
Ginsburg, one of four liberals on the court, is the eldest justice.
Supreme Court justices are appointed for life. She has repeatedly said she will only retire when she feels incapable of handling the workload.

Thousands of Africans detained near Mexico’s border with Guatemala are growing restless and are now attacking police in hopes of convincing authorities to allow them to continue their quest for the U.S.
Videos posted to Twitter and YouTube show migrants from the Congo, Cameroon, Haiti and other countries hurling garbage cans at federal police and military in Tapachula, Mexico, where dozens of officers used crowd control shields to contain the mob last week.

In one clip, about a dozen Africans yelled at a gate: “Nicaragua! Pass! Honduras! Pass! Guatemala! Pass! Mexico! No! Mexico! No!” The group also danced and chanted with their children while banging drums.
In another clip, one of the migrant men pleaded his case.
“We don’t have money. We don’t have a place to sleep. We have no food,” he said, wearing a new Polo shirt. “Let us go. Let us go. This is not our destination. Our destination is to go up (to America.)”
The “news” site AJ+ reports Mexican authorities registered at least 1,900 African migrants in the first four months of 2019, though it’s unclear how many have followed the route through south and central America since.
Migrants at the Tapachula detention facility toted signs in Spanish and threw bottles and other garbage at officers sent in to control the melee, injuring at least one federal police officer in the process.
The crowd booed and mocked police as officers loaded their injured colleague into an ambulance, while migrants were also apparently injured in the scuffles.

Benedict Cumberbatch Runs to Save Cyclist Being Attacked by Four Men

Sherlock Holmes running to rescue a pedestrian in distress sounds exactly like something out of the original book series, but earlier this week, that heroic story actually came to life—and it happened right near Baker St. in London.
Uber driver Manuel Dias was escorting a middle-aged married couple to their destination when they suddenly saw a bicyclist being mobbed by four young men.
The cyclist, who was a delivery rider for the meal service Deliveroo, had just removed his helmet when the attackers broke a bottle over his head and started to hit him.
Dias’s passenger jumped out of the car and ran into the fray, yelling “Leave him alone” – and it was then that he realized that his passenger was none other than Benedict Cumberbatch, the film and television actor from BBC’s Sherlock and Dr. Strange.
As 53-year-old Dias ran to help Cumberbatch, the Sherlock star pulled the young men off of the cyclist and broke up the attack.
“I had hold of one lad and Benedict another. He seemed to know exactly what he was doing. He was very brave. He did most of it, to be honest,” Dias told The Star. “They tried to hit him but he defended himself and pushed them away. He wasn’t injured. Then I think they also recognized it was Benedict and ran away.”
Ironically, the attack took place right around the corner from Baker Street, which is the block on which the Sherlock Holmes series takes place.

According to Dias, Cumberbatch made sure that the cyclist was okay before giving the young man a hug.
Deliveroo later posted a thank you note for the actor on Twitter, saying: “Thank you Benedict Cumberbatch for your brave actions. Deliveroo riders are heroes – their safety is our priority and any violence against them is totally unacceptable. So on behalf of everyone at Deliveroo: thank you.”
The New York Times says that the assault was also confirmed by the local police department. Cumberbatch, reportedly told The Sun, “I did it out of, well, I had to, you know . . .” although he has declined further comment on the incident.
