Jambo ,

Thank you for subscribing to our Newsletter and welcome to the Nomad family!
At this moment we have 35 trucks and 70 guides on tour across East and Southern Africa. With peak season in full swing, our operations and logistics teams are producing small miracles every day to ensure that each one of our travellers has a unique African experience and adventure-filled stories to tell all their friends and family when they get home.
Thanks to all the feedback that you've sent us over the year, we've been tailoring our tours for 2012 to ensure that we offer you the best adventure tours on the market! We have made changes which we know you'll be excited about, keep on reading to find out what's in store for your next trip.
Book Now to receive up to 30% Discount

Goodbye to Local Payments | An adventure that's off the charts unique | Small group departures | Travelling with family | Join us for another tour | Monthly Specials | Spreading the word

Say goodbye to Local Payments:
There has always been a mystery surrounding Local Payments and exactly what they include. We have decided to make this clearer by introducing an Activity Package which will replace the local payment for 2012 tours. This will allow you more flexibility as the Activity Packages will be optional and no longer compulsory for 95% of our adventure tours. We will also offer these Activity Packages in ZAR instead of US$ so you will only need to deal with one currency when booking and going on tour.

An adventure that's off the charts unique
Our new 9 Day (Cape Town to Cape Town), Karoo, Kalahari and West Coast Tour includes highlights such as spotting black maned lions in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, an overnight canoe adventure on the Orange River, an open air seafood feast on the West Coast and theatre tickets to one of South Africa's most renowned actors show, Pieter Dirk Uys' Evita se Peron. If you book now for this time next year, you'll be travelling through fields of West Coast wild Spring flowers!.

An intimate affair with small group departures
Stretch out your legs in comfort on these tours with a maximum of 12 guests in our adventure trucks. We're not going to give you a stuffy little 12 seater vehicle, we will offer this to you in one of our 24 seater trucks so you will have the comfort of a double seat and your own window for the duration of the tour, now that's luxury in the world of overlanding! These departures will only be 10 - 15% more expensive than our regular departures.

 Travelling with the family?
We enjoy having three generations of family on tour with us and have even had an 89 year old who proceeded to climb the Fish River Canyon! Children between the age of 8 - 16 years are welcome on tour with us on a request basis. When you want to book your family holiday, just phone or email us and tell us which tour you are interested in, we will then contact the travellers currently booked on the tour and ask them if they're happy with kids joining the tour. This does mean that if you are booking a family holiday, the earlier you do it, the better! Anyone up to the age of 65 will be comfortable on one of our tours, older than that, just get a doctors letter and you're ready to go! We have two confirmed family tours for December 2011:
14 Day, Discover Mozambique or Mozambique in Comfort Tour: 19 December 2011 - 1 Jan 2012
          7 Day, The Garden Route Tour: 12 - 18 December 2011

Want to join us for another tour?
Don't stop ticking off your Africa list now, we have a selection of 104 tours for you to choose from so come and play with us again. To thank you for your loyalty to Nomad, if you have travelled with us before, we will offer you a 10% discount off your next tour price.

Do you have friends who are green with envy and drooling over your Africa pictures? Please send them to us and we will offer them a 10% referral discount, they will need to give us your name though.

 Monthly Specials
Keep an eye on our website for monthly specials, they are updated at the beginning of every month. We do also have discounts on our 2011 tours until the end of December:
30% Discount for Nomad's East Africa Adventure Tours in a North and South direction
30% Discount for Nomad's Masai Mara and Gorillas Tour
30% Discount for Nomad's Vic Falls to Cape Town Tour
30% Discount for Nomad's Okavango and Chobe Trail in a North and South direction
10% Discount for Nomad's Kruger National Park Tours

 Spreading the word
We're slowly getting on board with all this social media stuff, if you're keen to get on board and share some of your stories, pictures and videos with us, we'd love to highlight your experiences! Nomad Africa Newsletter: The Marvin Edition
        15th December 2009

Hi
                  ,
Continuing in the musical tracks of our previous truck name's heritage is Marvin. I heard it on the grapevine and Lets get it on, being just two of the legacies
he left us. Our tribute to Marvin Gaye includes his pioneering
independence which resulted in him breaking free of the restrictive
Motown record label monopoly. It is this desire to be free that we wish to unlock in each traveller.

Green
            Seats

Responsible travel is all about keeping
your impact on the environment you are enjoying as low as possible.
In order to help you travel this way on your African holiday, Nomad
has introduced Green Seats on all tours.

How does it work?
You can
choose to help offset the carbon created on your tour by simply ticking a box on your booking form or by letting
your agent know. For example for a small contribution of ZAR 150, you
can let us offset your carbon footprint of a 15 to 21 day tour. All the
funds collected are administered by the Nomad African Trust
who will manage the project in conjunction with South African
National Parks as well as the Department of Water Affairs and
Forestry.

Nomad
              World Cup 2010
It will be business as usual for Nomad during the 2010 FIFA Football
World Cup period. With no price increase and no surcharges it is as
affordable as ever to travel with Nomad during this period. Flights to
South Africa are going to be more difficult during that month (11 June
to 12 July) so if you cannot find a flight in that period then May and
August will also be ideal travel months.
Some tourists may be put
off by what they think will be a really busy period yet we foresee some
excellent last-minute as well as more advanced specials being offered. Despite all the hype, South Africa is a huge country and
Nomad is not limited to only South Africa. East African tours are
another excellent option.

2010 - Mozambique all year
                  around!

The Nomad 2010 Tour schedule is
remaining mostly unchanged from the 2009 schedule. The 14-day
Discover Mozambique Tour will now be operating 12-months per year
instead of closing over the rainy season between December and March.
Although the whole idea of 'rainy season' may not sound that
appealing, there has been great demand and the oceans remain warm with inviting beaches. The rainy
season in tropical Africa usually means about 1-2 hours of rain in the
afternoon, often accompanied by a spectacular thunderstorm.

Nomadness
            - December Discount

Following the success of the previous December Discount, its time to celebrate the ending of 2009 and the beginning of
2010. It's also vacation time for some and in South Africa
Summertime is being celebrated!
If you book
and pay in
full
for a tour departing between 01 December - 11th July 2010 you will get a
10% Discount off the tour price. On some of our

Did
            you know - Nomad Trucks

At Nomad we are constantly improving
our vehicles. Did you know that every Nomad truck has an i-pod / MP3
player connection? This means that on every trip the music selection
is massive! Our guides are also all issued with a huge selection of
African music to add variety.
Nomad trucks are also fitted with
seat belts and although this may sound obvious, it is not a legal
requirement and many other companies do not have these. We also
provide a small library of books and have games equipment, like
footballs. Of course every Nomad truck is also fitted with a safe
for your valuables and a full kitchen.

December
2008

Hi ,
Our third truck was
named Elvis, following Jimi (Hendrix).
As an American singer, musician, actor and cultural icon, he is
commonly referred to by his first name, or as the The King of Rock 'n' Roll
or The King.

Nomadness
- December Discount
Its
December and time to celebrate the ending of 2008 and the beginning of
2009. It's also Christmas time for some and in South Africa
its
Summertime!
If you book
and pay in
full
for a tour departing between 01 January - 30 June 2009 you will get a
10% Discount off the tour price. On some of our
longer tours
this
is a significant discount, so hurry to book your place now!

The
end of the fuel surcharge!
For
the last 6 months we have had to charge a fuel surcharge on our tours
because of the huge spike in the oil price earlier this
year. Although the price of crude oil came down again most
African
countries
set the price and left it high, much higher than we had budgeted
for. So for the 6-months from July to the end of 2008 we have
had
to add on a highly unpopular fuel surcharge. The good news
for
2009 is that there is NO fuel surcharge! You
will
also be
happy to see that
our
Euro prices have hardly changed for 2009.

Voluntours
- Make a Difference

Since the launch of the
voluntours earlier this year, there has been a great deal of interest
in
this new travel concept. The idea of going on holiday and
spending your time and money in a more socially responsible way is
appealing to a lot of people.

The most popular project on
this tour is
undoubtedly the Jane Goodal Chimpanzee Eden near the Kruger National
Park. This project deals with orphaned and rescued
chimpanzees with the end goal that they are reintroduced in to a wild
environment..

Nomad
Update
There is always a lot of news
to try fit into our newsletters, please
feel free to contact us via the livechat
feature on our website or this newsletter. We welcome questions and can
provide advice on
our tours, check availability etc.

The Nomad
African Trust was
launched in April of this year and has slowly been gaining
supporters.
www.nomadafricantrust.co.za

2009 is looking like an exciting year. The South
African
Rand is down, which is good news for foreign tourists, everything is
cheap again. Currently a Beer
in a
club costs about R15 which is USD1.45 / EUR 1.15 or GBP .98, not that
you want to drink beer all day, but it is always a good
comparison. It is
a good time to visit Southern Africa!

Hi ,
Nomad's second truck was

Nomad Africa Newsletter: The Janis Edition 25th January 2008

Hi ,
Our first truck was named after the rock legend, Janis Joplin. It's a tradition that has continued over the last 10 years. While rock stars evoke powerful memories, we aim to make each tour with us as unforgettable.

Kenya has been in the news a lot lately and you may have noticed that many of our tours start or end there. Nomad is aware that travel to Nairobi may cause you some concern, so we are very happy to let you know that on almost all of our tours that start or end in Kenya, you can choose to start or end in Arusha, Tanzania.

Arusha is South-West of Nairobi, just across the border in Tanzania. KLM / Air France have daily flights to the Kilimanjaro International Aiport which is just 90 km from Arusha. Kilimanjaro International Airport (or JRO) is the air hub for both the Serengeti NP and Mt Kilimanjaro. It is also an option to fly to Nairobi and take an immediate flight to Kilimanjaro with Air Kenya or Air Tanzania.

Focus on Mozambique

It is almost March and time to start running the Mozambique tour again! The first tour for 2008 starts on the 03 March and is a bit of an expedition. Our Product Manager, Marita Koegelenberg will be travelling on this tour, so if you join this departure there may be a bit of 'exploring' scheduled!

We are also very excited that in 2008 we are including a Dhow Safari to the Bazaruto Archipelago on this tour! There is no more scenic way to travel to these amazing Islands than on the deck of a traditional East African wooden Sailing vessel. Gliding through the clear blue waters to snorkelling sites off the reef... Of course, this tour is not all about sun, sand and sea, we also visit Swaziland and Kruger National Park, all together a really good combination of highlights - Wildlife, African Culture and Beaches. See you soon?

 Tour Tips
This section has been developed as a reward for our newsletter subscribers.

1) Buy liquid body soap and not bar soap. Especially in the summer. The bar soap melts and becomes a mess.
2) Get a pillow. If nothing else, a pillow! You can buy this on arrival in South Africa, for under R50, and can either give it away on the completion of your tour, or use it as barter with the local crafts people.
3) Clients with long hair, bring a bandanna or head scarf. This is for the dusty Namibian roads. The dust is so fine that it settles in your hair and makes it impossible to comb out. If you put a bandanna or scarf over you head, it makes it easier to manage.

So long , my honey, so long,

Too bad you had to drift away,
'Cause I could use some company
Right here on this road, on this road I'm on today (Bye, Bye Baby)

Janis would be proud
We asked one of our guides Bjorn, what were some of his funniest moments on tour?

Probably some questions from guests like:

To see a shooting star shall I turn my head all the time and try to look everywhere or should I fix on one star and wait for it to shoot?

Are Wild dogs, dogs that nobody looks after?

Is the black market a market where only black people go?
