Your Open Word e-Devotional for July 12th

Hello ,

"Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus."  2 Timothy 2:1

Have you ever had one of those days when you are trying to be strong but it's just not working? I have, and it can feel like a losing battle that I'm never going to win.  The Apostle Paul had plenty of reasons to feel weak. Most biblical scholars believe that he wrote 2 Timothy from a prison at a time when he was expecting to die soon.

Paul had endured prison, beatings, ridicule, and a great number of other situations in his life that would cause even the strongest person to question how long they could hold out.

Paul had a secret though.  He ascribed to something so simple and so powerful that many have overlooked it as the source of strength, comfort, and daily living. "...be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus."

"...casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you."  1 Peter 5:7

There's something so comforting about trusting someone who has never lost a battle. A man who was about to die, and was living in prison saw it as his daily method of "really living."  Let me encourage you to lean hard into Jesus today.  Draw your strength from His grace, love, and mercy.

Have a great day and God bless!
