Hi !
Welcome to this week's issue of Executive Insight.
Happy July 4th!
It's that time of the year when barbeques and fireworks will be crackling and popping across the U.S. as we celebrate the Independence Day holiday.
Since you're probably shifting into relaxation mode, I'm keeping it light this week. Whatever you do, I hope that you have a relaxing, enjoyable weekend with your friends and family.
Here are some tips that you may find useful, as appropriate:
- Don't argue with your spouse over which tongs to use at the grill.
- Take the ice cream out of the freezer when people actually start to eat desert, not an hour ahead of time.
- Make your children happy by wearing the party hat (you can always delete the photos later).
- Have antacids handy for people who think that this is the last meal they'll ever eat.
- Act like you're enjoying the food even if it's awful (you can have a real meal later).
In case you're looking for some new ideas for your holiday bash, here are a few links that might give you some inspiration:
Let me leave you with this thought from the fabulous Erma Bombeck:
"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism."
Here's to a great 4th with your family and friends, and have a great week ahead!
