Hi !
Welcome to this week's issue of Executive Insight.
Take Action to Implement
Last week I attended a professional conference that overflowed with information. Like most people, I took copious notes and enthusiastically came home with a bulging bag of business cards, follow up lists, and a tablet brimming with ideas.
Sound familiar?
That was the easy part. The hard part is what happens next. The key is to take action quickly, or it's likely that you'll do nothing. The more days that pass before you take action to implement, the more likely it will be that you'll do nothing.
You don't need to go to a conference to experience this - it happens to us every day. I recommend that you create a system that not only captures those endless "to-dos", but creates a sequence for you to follow up.
Some people get stuck with deciding what to do first. Focus on what is most important to help you achieve your goals. When you stay focused on your goals, it's easier to prioritize.
When you're focused in this way, it really doesn't matter what you do first; just do something. The act of doing something will propel you into motion to do the next thing.
We get stuck because so much is happening in our lives. That leads to feeling overwhelmed, and when that happens, inertia isn't far behind.
By the way, since I knew that I was going to write about this, I've "walked the talk" since I returned from the conference. I'm happy to tell you that it's been an amazingly productive week. If it works for me, I know it can work for you.
All it takes is that first little action step - go for it now!
Have a great week!
