Hi !
Welcome to this week's issue of Executive Insight.
What Makes You Memorable?
I was walking home from the grocery store one Saturday afternoon when I saw a man wearing a Penn sweatshirt walking in my direction. I greeted him by making the Penn connection and we struck up a conversation.
Neil and I did a little bit of "do you know..." and we discovered a connection at the Penn Club of New York. Neil had gotten married there in 2001 and asked me if I knew Wesson Anderson.
I responded that of course I knew Wesson. He runs the banquet business at the club, and I've known him for many years.
As I walked away, I thought that it was interesting for Neil to have such a strong impression eight years later. His memory wasn't just about his wedding; it was specifically related to Wesson.
I immediately thought of three things that make Wesson memorable:
- He really cares about the client.
- He takes time to get to know you, and focuses on what will make your event particularly special.
- He manages his team so that the job gets done the way the client wants and expects.
We could call this great client service - and it is - but an additional point relates to the consistency of this service. The combination is what makes Wesson memorable.
What do you do that makes you memorable with your clients?
If you can't think of something off the top of your head, then consider this question: what will it take for someone to spontaneously remember your name eight years from now?
Have a great week!

Leadership and the
Bottom Line
Remember to be consistent between what you say and what you do. When there's a gap in that consistency, people know it immediately.
Personal Power
What brings you joy? If you can't remember, it's time to reflect and make sure you include some on a regular basis.
Trend Watch
Cave Creek, AZ took a step into its Wild West past by having the contenders of a city council election draw cards to decide the outcome. Is this a prelude to the future or a return to the good ol' days?
