Perception vs. Reality
Recently I was advising a client regarding a performance review where the employee and her manager had vastly different perceptions of the employee's performance.
The gap between how people assess the same information always fascinates me. The episode of the performance review caused me to think about how many times a week you see things differently than someone else.
This reminds me of the following well known image:

The question is, what do you see in this drawing? Some see an old woman; others see a young woman. Which is the truth?
This illustration is a great reminder about how people can see things entirely differently, and more importantly, the need to be open to different perspectives. Your point of view can change based on new information or simply seeing something from a fresh perspective.
