We're about to celebrate the 81^st birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. As the media will soon replay excerpts from his famous speech, I've been thinking about what a visionary he was.

Dr. King talked about a dream that was actually a very clear vision. He could see it in his mind's eye and believed that his dream was achievable.

We're reminded of this at least once a year when we honor his memory. This year, let's think about how we can use this as a trigger to inspire our own action. Everyone has a dream, but not everyone turns his or her dreams into a guiding vision.

When you don't have a vision, it's hard to know where you're going every day. In fact, many people simply drift from one day to the next, one project to the next, one job to the next.

Do you want to drift? Or do you want to follow a course based on a clear vision that you can see in your mind's eye?

I know that in some respects, it's easier to drift. The satisfaction that comes from following a vision of our own, however, is well worth the effort.

I invite you to allow the memory of Dr. King to inspire you this weekend, and to commit to your dream.
