Each year as the Spring explodes into session Carson's friends connect and take a day to revel on our Annual Mohonk Rock Scramble and Swim day hike. It's a great way to kick start your outdoor inspiration while pushing yourself to levels of scrambling ecstasy.. that means we go over, around and under rocks on this fun, friendly and exciting day hike for socially intrigued friends. We will also stop at a boulder cave or two for shimmy through and explore. Distance for hike is about 6-7 miles on trail with limited elevation gain except at scrambles. Okay for novices as long as you don't let your psychology get in your way. Some boulders may be intimidating to a few fearful of heights. As most of the hikes and away trips I've been on go, about 90% of the time they are rain free. This Saturday is no different with a call for Sunny skies and temperature expected to be about 80 degrees! We will stop at Split Rock waterfall and watering hole after hike for a 15-30 min. dip for those inclined. Location: Meet at New Paltz Trailways Bus Depot on Rt 299 (Main St). Left off exit 18 of NYS Thruway then one mile. We will car shuttle to Mohonk Preserve (Near New Paltz, NY) about 1.45 minutes from NYC to begin and end hike/swim. Date: Saturday, May 19, 2012 Meeting Time: 10:05am depart from New Paltz bus depot (or after bus arrives from NYC, whichever is later) Expect to be out of the woods by about 5pm. Its a free concert in Coney Island (we will pony up $5 for premium seats in front of stage) with none other than the Monkees (Davey, Mickey, and Peter is playing together on this reunion tour); with special guest Jay Black (This Magic Moment, and Cara Maria). , meet in front of ticket window at Cyclone Stadium on Surf Avenue near West 21st street at 6:00pm.
