PROFILE: The Ouija Board - Harmless Halloween Game or Occult Doorway?
Published: Tue, 10/31/17
The Ouija Board has been a point of contention and even legal action throughout its history. Did you know, it actually took an IRS court ruling for the Ouija Board to be classified as a game? Eventually the IRS ruling led to the Ouija Board patent being purchased by Parker Brothers®.
Enabled by the marketing muscle of one of the world's leading game makers, the Ouija rocketed it to success -- actually outselling the board game Monopoly.1 Habro® eventually acquired the rights to the Ouija Board and it's popularity continued to explode. To date, there have been at least 69 movies featuring the Ouija Board.
This raises some important questions:
- Who invented the Ouija Board and why?
- Who or what is spelling out the answers to the players' questions?
- Is it psychic, psychological, fraud or all three?
What Profiles would you like to see in 2018?
