VIDEO: Atheist author Aron Ra at our Atheist Christian Book Club

Published: Wed, 07/05/17

Good afternoon ,

Please pray for our Atheist Christian Book Club this Friday as we will have a special guest, ARON RA, an outspoken atheist activist and the former head of the Atheist Alliance of America. He is also the author of our discussion book this month, Foundational Falsehoods of Creationism. Interview - Aron Ra and
James Walker

When Aron heard that our book club was planing to discus his book, he graciously offered to come in person to join the conversation and answer questions. This is a "first" for our young book club to actually have the author present for our discussion.

I caught up with Aron recently when he was recording some shows for the Atheist Edge. I asked him about his book and his plans to be at our next book club meeting. Please watch my short, 6-min. interview with Aron Ra here: https://youtu.be/w0AR8toTPJ0

Why Am I Asking for Your Prayers?

Our book club is already pushing the limits by gathering a group of committed Christians and atheists for an open discussion. Each month we alternate discussing a Christian book and an atheist book. Last month we discussed The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel and Lee was kind enough to share a brief greeting with our club. Our discussions have always been intense yet thoughtful and remarkably respectful. In many ways some of us have become more than just a club but real friends.

Of course it is one thing to critique or defend a book according to your convictions. It is another thing altogether to critique or challenge a book when the author is sitting in the room with you. As an author myself, I know first hand that we writers tend to be hyper defensive of our own books. You feel like you are defending your child. So please pray that both sides will continue to feel free to present challenges and pose questions. Pray that we will enjoy uncompromising discussions that remain respectful. Finally, pray that the Holy Spirit will guide and direct the conversation and that He will make truth evident.

If you are in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area, you are invited. Plan to come early at 6pm for refreshments. Our main discussion should run from 6:30 to about 8:30pm. For more information, visit www.AtheistChristianBookClub.com. As always, space is limited so you must RSVP. Please let us know now if you are planning to be there and we will save your seat.

Yours in Christ,

About Watchman Fellowship: We are an evangelical Christian discernment ministry founded in 1979 focusing on new religious movements, cults, the occult, New Age spirituality, and world religions.  We provide apologetics (a defense of the Christian faith) and evangelism (sharing the Christian gospel of Grace) to people of other faiths.  We also equip tens of thousands of Christians each year to understand and reach people of other religions with the truth gospel.
