Grief after the sudden or violent death of a loved one can be complicated, prolonged, and resistant to the usual therapy interventions. Furthermore unresolved trauma and grief can lead to major depression, substance abuse, and anxiety disorders. This workshop will present evidenced-based tools and hypnosis techniques that treat traumatic grief briefly, compassionately, and effectively. Participants will learn neuroscience implications for treating traumatic grief, and new diagnostic categories for trauma and grief related adjustment disorders proposed for the DSM-5. Video demonstrations of a homicide and suicide survivors, a war veteran, and tornado survivor will be included so therapists learn how to immediately apply the model in their practices.

Therapy for the Right Side of Your Brain

Where: Anxiety and Stress Management Institute, Atlanta, GA

When: Friday, March 16, 2012 / 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Register: Please click here to register. Participants will earn 5 Core CE's.

Double your therapeutic effectiveness by joining us in this fun workshop where you'll learn how to speak the language of the emotional brain with right-brain techniques that facilitate change quickly. Advances in neuroscience suggest the emotional brain processes information primarily through the right brain which speaks in symbols and sensory forms. Nonetheless, psychotherapy has continued to emphasize approaches that appeal to the left brain which has fewer direct connections to the limbic system and is therefore limited in effecting emotional change. Discover how to integrate techniques that appeal to both hemispheres.

Healing Traumatic Grief Reactions with Guided Imagery
