This Weekend in the Hound House:
Thanks for all the ideas on how to arm myself for combat against the rabbits and the Boxelder bugs. The most unusual suggestion for dealing with the rabbits was from Publicity Hound Connie Oswald Stofko: Use a Bounce dryer sheet attached to a wooden stick about one foot high. Almost everyone told me to ignore the Boxelders, those harmless bugs that are napping atop each other on the south side of the house. Publicity Hound Judith Bron recommended placing whole or sliced onions on my porch to get rid of the bugs, or in the garden to repel the rabbits. Onward soldiers!
1. Google+: Don't Fight It!
Lots of people, me included, said Google+ would fail as a social media platform when it debuted two years ago. That was partially because sexy Pinterest and the ubiquitous Facebook were stealing the spotlight. Boy, were we wrong!
Today, Google+ is the second largest social network, with 400 million members.
Here's the kicker: It's also the backbone of Google, the world's largest and most respected search engine. That's why Google+ is one of the most powerful tools you can use to promote your expertise, build a community, manage your friends, find content to share, and join the conversation.
Social media strategist BL Ochman, who's hooked on Google+, says participating in it, as an individual or a brand, is no longer an option. Google+ profiles and content, she says, are now part of Google's new search algorithm.
In other words, you need to use it if you want better search placement. Join us for a tour of Google+ and the best ways to use it to grow your business during a webinar I'm hosting from 4 to 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, May 9.
If you've been fighting Google+ and you think it's one more pain-in-the-tush social media site to learn, BL will convince you that Google+ is not only critical to your business, but it can be a heck of a lot of fun. She loves the Hangouts, which are catching on like wildfire for all sorts of businesses uses.

2. Maximum Publicity in 15 Minutes
Want to land a lot more free publicity and media exposure for what you're promoting--without spending an enormous amount of time doing it?
If so, join Steve Harrison of Radio-TV Interview Report (RTIR) for a free webinar on Thursday, May 9, at either 2 or 7 p.m. Eastern. He'll be sharing specific strategies to score maximum publicity in minimum time. You will learn:
--A key habit to set right now if you want more publicity and sales. It's a strategy almost every super-successful author has made a habit.
--How to plan out your annual publicity campaign(s) in 15 minutes or less.
--The single most important thing you need to know to land media coverage.
And lots more. Register for the maximum publicity webinar here.
Steve won't make the replay available so if you can't attend, sign up anyway and recruit someone to sit in for you and take notes. Consumer Stuff: I'm Steve's affiliate and I might earn a commission if you buy something down the road from him.
