I've just published a new e-book, Retirement: You are  Not Too Old to Strut Your Stuff with the lengthy subtitle: Out With Old Rusty Rigid Retirement and In with a Rock Star Second Life.  It's for sale on Amazon but I'm offering it at no cost to anyone who wants to read it. Click here to download. Feel free to post the link on Facebook, Twitter and other sites. Thank you for helping get the word out that "being old" is not the end of the world -- it can be the "start of something grand" --(remember the song?). Thanks to Joyce Shafer for helping with editing and offering a motivational section on how to turn a desire and vision for a second life into reality.
Medicare: Good News
If you or a loved one on Medicare could benefit from physical therapy but need to show improvement to receive continuing skilled  treatment -- that requirement has been removed. Medicare has sent notification about the change in policy to health care providers, bill processors, auditors, Medicare Advantage plans and appeals judges. Read more here
Inspiration of the Month
I watched oil magnate T. Boone Pickens, 85, sprint up a street in hilly San Francisco. He revealed he could do that and a lot more because he regularly works out with a trainer and has been doing so for years. His physical ability demonstrates the power of  CONTINUITY. Get into an exercise regimen early in life and stick with it come hell or high water and you will be richly rewarded at a time when conventional wisdom says you should be in "old age decline". (You will really hit the jackpot if you aren't taken down with cancer, dementia or other calamity.) It's nice that T. Boone can afford a personal trainer but you don't need one. All you need is to get started and do what you know you should do. BTW, T. Boone just married a 61 years-young gorgeous woman. (Eat your heart out, envious grumpy old guys who didn't bother to stay in shape.)
