So, What's New?

Last month I offered the link to my new book (still a work in progress) I'm Not Goin' There: A Gutsy Girlfriend Guide for Boomer Women Who Don't Want to Spend Their Golden Years Cuddling With Their Cats. I received some amazing feedback. One reply from a physician blew me away. She tells how the book changed her thinking on the "age issue." Please be sure to read it.

Dr. Bronner Handwerger discusses perimenopause and menopause. Do you know the difference?

If you have children or grandchildren who are clueless about the value of money, (I have two of them) the Put Old on Hold Journal financial expert, Henry Montag, shared a link from an article in the Wall Street Journal (in which Henry is referenced) that you may want to take a look at. The article has some excellent suggestions for money games that may help to turn your spenders into literate savers and investors. Here is the link

If you are on Medicare, be sure to read Mr. Montag's column this month. He has provided an important update on how to get the most out of your Medicare supplement contract.

Mary Lloyd and Joyce Shafer as always, have inspiring, helpful articles. When Mary and Joyce send in their articles I can't wait to read them, and as I do, without fail I am in awe of their knowledge and common sense approach to life. So often I think, "They should be charging for for this" -- it's so valuable. If you have not been reading their articles, please get acquainted with the wisdom of  these amazing women.

Yummy Alert!

Put Old on Hold Journal columnist Lura Zerick  loves to bake and claims her cakes look so good they belong on the cover of a food magazine. I coud not let that "outrageous" claim go unchallenged so I asked her for a photo and here it is:

You have to agree, it's a yummy beauty. Lura shares the recipe and you can find it here. I'm not into cooking OR baking but it looks so easy that I will give it a try.

Don't Like to Swallow Vitamins? (I feel your pain!)

People don't take vitamins for many reasons. Once reason is "they are too big." I get it! Not only are many too big, but for me, I take so many that I get to the point where I feel I can't swallow one more.To get around it, I look for formulations in liquid or powder form. Two supplements I'm very pleased with are B-12/5000 and Mental Sharp. Both are in a dropper bottle. The first is vitamin B-12 which is great for sustaining energy (among other wonderful benefits). The other, Mental Sharp, I take to maintain strong cognition. I put a dropperful of each in my morning power drink, and you don't even taste them. The benefits are outstanding. Give them a try. Visit my supplement site for a full range of pharmaceutical grade supplements.

Need a little inspiration? Meet Captain James Henry, a retired Connecticut lobsterman who, at the age of 98, just published his first book, In A Fisherman's Language. More inspiring: Mr. Henry did not learn to read until just a few years ago. His granddaughter contacted Literacy Volunteers of Eastern Connecticut, which connected Mr. Henry with Mark Hogan, a retired English teacher. Mr. Henry learned to read and write and the result is the autobiography. Word of the book and Mr. Henry's personal story made the local news then reached USA Today. Now, Mr. Henry is getting speaking requests from groups around the country. "It's never too late to learn," Mr. Henry told USA Today. And it's never too late to write - or to change your life. Start today.
